I signed up last-minute for the Reindeer Dash 5K and unexpectedly won first place in my age group! My first ever place medal 🥹🥇This was a surprising blessing after a long break from competitive racing and overcoming health issues.

I almost gave up running for good when my body was fighting against me, and I wasn’t meeting the standard I set for myself. I had to learn to adjust my expectations. I had to trade in intense training, long runs and half marathons for easy paces, more rest days and solo neighborhood 5Ks. The beauty of it all is that by surrendering and listening to my body, it made me stronger and faster ❤️‍🩹

I walked away from this race with two medals and two lessons:

1. When you stop chasing the prize, it will come to you.🏃‍♀️🏆
2. Never give up on yourself 💪❣️
