Meet Hannah, our Behavioral Health Coordinator!

Hannah received her Master’s in Psychological Research from Texas State University and now serves as our Behavioral Health Coordinator. She helps connect patients with appropriate mental health resources, emphasizing psychoeducation and patient engagement while providing ongoing support to our practice.

Her background in clinical research includes work in mental health and su***de prevention among at-risk populations. Hannah helps our practice provide compassionate, evidence-based care tailored to each patient’s unique needs.

Texas Family Doctor is more than just a clinic or a building - it’s a community defined by the incredible people who make it special: our caring staff and, most importantly, the patients we are honored to serve. While our building sustained severe damage this past week, we’ve been reminded that it’s the people, not the walls, who truly make a clinic.

We’ve been deeply moved by the outpouring of support from our community. Your kindness, encouragement, and the many offers to help with cleanup, painting, and moving mean the world to us. As many of you know, our clinic has been affected by the recent storms, and as a result, we are temporarily relocating. During this time, all appointments will be held virtually until further notice.

If you’re experiencing an urgent medical issue, please leave a detailed voicemail with your name, contact information, and a brief description of your concern. We will get back to you as soon as we can.

We are so grateful for your understanding and patience during this difficult time. A heartfelt thank you goes out to everyone who has reached out to offer their support - your kindness has been a bright light for us, and we couldn’t be more thankful.

Original footage of one of my personal heroes, Col. Hal Moore is featured in the Veterans Day tribute. He was a man of great faith and bravery who boldly led men into battle at the behest of his country, even as many in his country turned their backs. For a difficult perspective on an “unpopular” war, I suggest watching We Were Soldiers, featuring Mel Gibson as Col. Moore. He cared for his troopers as he did his own sons; and managed to respect and pray for his enemies as well.

Thank you to the Messenger for the opportunity to be a part of remembering all those who served for our country.

Texas Family Doctor is so appreciative of the sacrifices of all veterans and their families. So many of our veterans were not properly honored for what they selflessly did for all of us. On this weekend, we ask that all our patients and friends show love and pray for those veterans and families who have given so selflessly for us all.

The Ti**le Can is COMING to Texas Family Doctor! KIVY radio personalities Joanne and the Ti**le Can will be at the clinic THURSDAY, October 6, from 9:30-11:30. All are invited to come see the celebrities, and meet Dr. Mike and his staff.

The Ti**le Can is appearing in recognition of Mens Health Awareness, a topic near and dear to his heart. Joanne is representing Women’s Health and Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Throughout October, Texas Family Doctor is offering an opportunity to obtain a screening panel of lab work for a very affordable price, for cash pay patients. Women’s price is $50, and Men over 40 can have PSA added for only $15 more. This lab work will serve as a screening for anemia, kidney, liver, thyroid, lipid and diabetes issues (in addition to prostate for men).

Dr. Mike will be happy to discuss results in detail during a wellness visit or appointment; or you may pick up your lab results to discuss with your preferred healthcare provider.

Don’t put it off any longer! The Ti**le Can assures you there is nothing to fear in finding out about your health. Bring your (reluctant) loved one and come get screened tomorrow morning, no appointment necessary!

We are excited to be FORMALLY OPEN and serving Houston County!!! Pastor Keith Smith from Tabernacle of Praise in Kennard will be on hand to Bless the Clinic and dedicate our work to the Lord. The Crockett Area Chamber of Commerce will be on hand to Cut the Ribbon!! House Calls are FOR REAL at Texas Family Doctor...

Today, I had the honor of completing my second house call since we opened last week, and met another amazing member of this community. House calls are not just a novelty--they are a staple of my practice. There is no better way to learn more about a patient than in their home. To me, House Calls are a throwback to a time when medicine was much more than a business. In other words, they are a big part of what Texas Family Doctor is all about--serving those that need help most. I am blessed and honored to be in practice here in Crockett.
Little Known FACT: Medicare covers house calls for those who have a medical hardship in traveling to a clinic.

MEET THE DOC (part 2):
Dr. Mike grew up in Houston, but spent much of his summers visiting his Grandparents in Riverside. He always wanted to live in the woods, and is finally doing just that with much of his family near Kennard. He is a second generation Aggie, and graduated from Texas A & M, where he was a proud member of the Corps of Cadets (Whoop!). He then went to medical school at UT Southwestern in Dallas (where the colors were more burnt orange). There, he was named the Outstanding Graduate entering Family Medicine. He always wanted to raise his family and practice in a "small-town" so he then completed 3 years of specialty training in Rural Family Medicine and Obstetrics in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He then returned to Texas in 1999 to start practice in Cuero, Texas (pop. 7,500).

Fun fact 1: Dr. Mike delivered well over 1,000 babies during his years in Cuero.

Fun fact 2: During his 18 years in Cuero, he was featured on the Animal Planet show "Monsters Inside Me" (Admittedly, not his proudest performance).
