MN Health Information Management Minnesota's Health Information Management Association Our name was officially changed to the Minnesota Health Information Management Association on Jan 1, 1992.

MNHIMA Vision: The Minnesota Health Information Management Association together with AHIMA will set the standard and be the recognized leader in health information management practices technology, education, research, and advocacy. HIM professionals take care of your personal health information, ensuring it is protected, private and available when you need it. Our expertise is essential for the appropriate gathering and sharing of data and information required by health care providers to provide patient care, to support reimbursement, and to protect consumers. Our History: The Minnesota Health Information Management Association (MNHIMA) is Minnesota's health information management association representing over 3300 professionals. We were originally established on June 20, 1935 in Duluth, Minnesota as the State Record Librarians Association. Our name was later changed to the Minnesota Medical Record Association, when we incorporated as a 501 (c)(6) not-for-profit corporation on March 10, 1976. We are a component state association affiliated with the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA). Membership in MNHIMA: Membership in MNHIMA has no separate state dues. Members of the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) who select Minnesota as their state association are automatically a member of MHIMA. You get two professional memberships for the price of one! Plus, as a member of MNHIMA, you'll get reduced pricing on Annual Meeting registration fees, our Legal Manual, and other members-only opportunities. And, as an active member of AHIMA, you have the right to vote and to hold office in MNHIMA. In order to be a member of MNHIMA, you must be/remain a member in good standing with AHIMA.
