Alluma Our Mission
Promote Wellbeing, Instill Hope. Alluma is an inclusive, nonprofit organization based in Crookston, Minnesota. We are open to everyone, anytime.

Alluma takes an uncommon community-based approach, integrating mental health and substance use care into overall wellbeing. Rooted in research and focused on relationships, we go above and beyond to build capacity in individuals and help clients get connected. the region. For nearly 60 years, we've provided evidence-based, client-focused care in northwestern Minnesota. Clients, teammates, caregivers, friends and families, and allies. You matter to Alluma, and we're here to help.

Today, Michon Gilbert marks a decade with Alluma — and the impact of her work is felt across the community.

Michon excels at building strong, trusting relationships with clients, partner agencies, and landlords to help drive positive outcomes. She brings people together, creating collaboration across programs to ensure care stays centered on each individual.

She also thoughtfully integrates cultural and community-based practices into her work — including creating space for traditions like burning sage — helping clients feel grounded and supported as they transition into housing that truly feels like home.

Michon, thank you for your dedication, compassion, and the care you bring to this work every day.

Today we celebrate the people who make Alluma what it is — thoughtful minds, steady hands, creative hearts, and the kind of dedication you can’t teach.
Behind every detail, every conversation, every experience, there’s a team that shows up with intention and care. Your standards are high. Your collaboration is real. Your impact is felt.
We’re proud of what we’re creating. And even more proud of who we’re creating it with.

Our Story

Northwestern Mental Health Center is a private, non-profit organization established in 1962. We are a certified community mental health center that serves individuals, children and families in six northwestern Minnesota counties including Kittson, Mahnomen, Marshall, Norman, Polk and Red Lake. Our organization provides a full range of mental health and substance use disorder services.

In January 2017, Northwestern Mental Health Center was designated as one of six Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics in Minnesota. Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics(CCBHCs) were created through The Excellence in Mental Health Act demonstration program to expand Americans’ access to mental health and addiction care in community-based settings. The federal demonstration project is measuring how well an integrated community clinic model of care can improve service quality and accessibility. CCBHCs take a person-centered approach that looks at the whole health (physical health, mental health and social service needs) of the individual. They provide a comprehensive set of services that promote recovery, wellness and trauma-informed care. CCBHCs serve adults, adolescents and children, as well as placing a special emphasis on active and veteran military care.

NWMHC has more than 150 staff members who represent psychiatrists, psychologists, mental health professionals, mental health practitioners, peer recovery specialists and administrative professionals. Northwestern Mental Health Center works with a team of professionals throughout the community to assure that those seeking assistance receive the best possible options for their care, recovery and wellness.
