Today we hosted our Thanksgiving Luncheon for our residents and their families, and it was a wonderful time together. Everyone truly enjoyed the meal and the fellowship.

A special thank-you to our amazing dietary team for preparing a delicious Thanksgiving spread, and to our staff for helping serve and ensure everything went smoothly.

We are proud to share some exciting news from our recent company banquet!
Please join us in congratulating Lillian Harmon CNA, who was honored as Southwind’s Employee of the Year. Lillian’s dedication, compassion, and commitment to our residents and team truly shine every day. This recognition is so well-deserved!

We also want to extend a big congratulations to Kathy Domec, RN, our Director of Nursing, who was awarded Director of Nursing of the Year for Elder Outreach. Kathy’s leadership, heart, and unwavering support for our staff and residents make a tremendous impact on our community.

🇺🇸 Happy Veterans Day! 🇺🇸

Today we proudly celebrated the incredible veterans who call Southwind home! ❤️ Our residents enjoyed delicious cupcakes and some Cajun boudin donated by Mikey’s Seafood & Specialty Meats - Crowley (thank you so much for your generosity! 🙌).

Each of our honored veterans was also gifted their very own Veterans Day T-shirt and USA pin— a small token of appreciation for the huge sacrifices they’ve made.

It was a day filled with smiles, stories, and heartfelt gratitude for those who’ve served our country. 🇺🇸

Nothing beats a good old-fashioned cookout on a beautiful day like today! The day was just right—not too bright, not too chilly—making it the perfect weather for our residents to kick back and relax.

Everyone enjoyed some delicious barbecue, good music, a few drinks, and plenty of laughs shared all around. Laughter, sunshine, and community—what more could we ask for?

Today we celebrated our resident Deak as he successfully completes his rehab journey and heads back home! He worked hard, met all his goals, and inspired everyone along the way.

We are nearing the most wonderful time of the year, so that means our annual Angel Tree will soon be up and ready to spread some holiday cheer! 🌟

Each angel on the tree represents one of our sweet residents and their Christmas wishes. If you’d like to make someone’s holiday a little brighter, stop by, pick an angel, and help make a wish come true! 🎁

Your kindness means the world to our residents, and your generosity helps keep the spirit of giving alive right here at Southwind.

Our residents had a fiesta in the Activities Department today — tacos, tunes, and tons of giggles! 😄 From salsa dancing (well…chair dancing counts, right?) to topping tacos sky-high, we definitely didn’t taco ‘bout boring!

Who knew Tuesday could taste this good?! 🌮

🌟 November Employee of the Month – Chavon Davis, CNA! 🌟

We’re proud to recognize Chavon Davis as our November Employee of the Month! Chavon joined our CNA team earlier this year and has been doing an outstanding job ever since. Originally from Abbeville, she quickly became a valued member of our team through her hard work, compassion, and dedication to our residents.

Our residents often share how grateful they are for Chavon’s commitment to excellence and the care she provides each day. 💙

Congratulations, Chavon! Thank you for all you do to make our facility a wonderful place for our residents and staff. 👏

Meet Ms. Stephanie Breaux, who we proudly present as Southwind’s longest-standing employee and a true heart of our community. For 35 years, she’s been a compassionate CNA, caring for residents with kindness and dedication. Stephanie has a big heart for taking care of residents, which is her favorite thing about working at Southwind.

Stephanie treasures the strong bonds she shares with coworkers, such as Elizabeth Lewis, a 30-year Southwind veteran, and Jayden Nelson. She’s also proud to be part of a solid team where everyone at Southwind steps up to support each other, a culture shaped by the leadership of present and past administrators, Jerad Langley and Jude Sittig. Stephanie says Jerad sets high standards but also knows how to have fun and joke around. She appreciates how Jerad connects warmly with residents, always making a point to check in and see if they need anything as he makes his rounds.

Reflecting on changes she’s seen in the past 35 years in long-term care, Stephanie highlights how the Activities Department has really blossomed. Residents are enjoying more excursions, with lots of participation from residents and families – and of course, lots of laughter and having a good time.

Her advice for new CNAs? Stephanie says, “You need to enjoy your job and like what you do because it makes working a lot easier. Because if you don’t like what you do, you won’t do a good job. You have to want to take care of the elderly. Some days can be difficult, and you always have to have patience.”

Advice for a new administrator? Stephanie encourages taking time to connect genuinely with both residents and employees by asking questions such as if they’re having a good day or if there’s anything they can do to make their work easier.

Outside of work, Stephanie enjoys relaxing with soap operas, Lifetime movies, and Tyler Perry films — and dining out at Fezzo’s, one of her favorites!

Thank you, Stephanie, for your decades of heartfelt service and for being a shining example of Southwind’s spirit.

🍲 We had a great time today at the Acadia Parish Chamber of Commerce & Economic Development annual Gumbo Cook-Off! The weather was perfect — cool and breezy, just right for a bowl (or two!) of gumbo. Thanks to everyone who stopped by and shared the day with us! 🌤️🔥
