Debbie Kubiak Oborn and Megan Mayer are incredibly honored to be part of this year’s Million Dollar Challenge, hosted by the Crown Point Community Foundation. This opportunity can help our Open Hearts legacy continue to grow and serve our community for years to come.

The kickoff event was truly inspiring. Being surrounded by more than 400 passionate leaders from nonprofits, municipalities, schools, universities, hospitals, and civic and faith-based organizations reminded us of the power of collective impact. We had the chance to connect, dream, and collaborate with so many incredible people—all united by a shared commitment to strengthening our communities.

As we step into this journey, we are excited to share our vision for expanding Open Hearts Therapeutic Riding Center into a true gathering place, where the legacy of farming and community lives on through horses, agriculture, shared experiences, and hands-on learning. We envision a place where people come to heal, belong, learn, and grow stronger together, just as generations before gathered on this land.

Join us on this journey of building Open Hearts Community Center, where we foster healing, personal growth, and community connection through equine-assisted experiences and agricultural programs that bring people together with horses, animals, and the land.

Together, we have the power to transform The Region in ways that will last for generations. ❤️

What a amazing event we got to be a part of so many amazing people to network and dream about the differences we can make in our communities we are honored to be a part of this opportunity

More than 400 thought leaders from hundreds of Northwest Indiana’s Non-profits, Municipalities, Schools, Universities, Hospitals, Faith and Civic Organizations gathered today to learn about The Million Dollar Challenge!

Dear Open Hearts volunteer team, contributors and participants,

It is with great consideration, and a very heavy heart, that I must inform you that we will be placing the program on indefinite hold.
Liability insurance is a vital piece of our program obligation; we have been unable to secure a renewal, or replacement policy for the program.

Our only option at this point is to cease all operations for Open Hearts Therapeutic Riding Center until further notice. We are hopeful that at some point in the future something may change, but at this time we must discontinue services. This does not impact Painted Pictures.

I appreciate each and every person that has ever had a hand in this program, and I want you to know that I have nothing but love
and appreciation for every one of you. Please know that this decision wasn't easy, but is necessary.
