One thing we wish more patients realized,

Regular dental visits are not just about bright smiles, gum health, or even cavity prevention.

Close to 60,000 oral cancers are diagnosed annually in the United States alone.

With early detection, 5 year survival rates increase by 80%.

Those are important stats that cannot be ignored!

Oral cancer does not discriminate,

But it does tend to be more common in men than woman.

Did you know?⬇️

Oral cancer screenings and soft tissue exams are part of your routine hygiene appointments.

Don't skip it!

If you're not only track to have us take a look, call today.

Regular dental visits are about way more than just a pretty smile.

🦷 Healthy Smiles Start Early! 😀

We had such a great time visiting with a group of amazing 1st graders recently!

From learning how cavities form to practicing the best way to brush and floss, these students were full of great questions and big smiles.

Education is one of the most powerful tools when it comes to protecting children’s oral health.

When kids learn why brushing, flossing, and healthy habits matter, they’re much more likely to carry those habits with them for life.

Early education helps children:
✨ Understand how to take care of their teeth
✨ Feel confident and comfortable visiting the dentist
✨ Build healthy habits that last into adulthood

Moments like these are why we love connecting with our community.

Helping kids learn that taking care of their teeth can be fun is a big step toward a lifetime of healthy smiles.

Thank you to the students and teachers who welcomed us into their classroom—we had a blast! 😁🪥

“It’s a baby tooth cavity, does my child really need a filling if the tooth is just going to fall out?”

We hear ya parents! And we get it!

It’s a valid question and here’s how we help determine if it’s necessary 👇

First and foremost, is your kiddo in pain?😥

If yes, the answer to treat the tooth in some manner is always, YES, regardless
if it's a baby tooth or not.

Here are some other things we consider when deciding whether or not to treat baby teeth 👇

🦷How large is the decay and is it near the nerve?
🪥 Can it be addressed with other, less invasive approaches?
⏳ How much longer will the child have the baby tooth?
🦷Is the tooth already wiggly and will come out soon?
🪥 Is the decay affecting adjacent or erupting teeth?

These are some of the questions we will explore with you, the parent, when your child is diagnosed with dental decay.

Is your child due for a checkup?

Whether it’s Children’s Dental Health month or not, smiles are always top of mind for us!

🦷 What Your Mouth Has Been Trying to Tell You 👀
(And why a 2-minute check could make a huge difference)

You’re probably so good at brushing your teeth you don’t even need to look in the mirror while doing it.

But did you know that hiding in plain sight could be tiny changes your mouth wishes you would notice?

Here’s something that might shock you, but it’s important to be aware. 👇

Close to 59,660 Americans will be diagnosed with oral cancer this year.

Not all of them are easy to see either.

Some oral changes only show up where you rarely look and sometimes they are even impossible to see without help from your dentist.

Some abnormalities are only seen in specialized imaging and can’t be seen just by looking.

The best way to monitor the health of your oral tissues is to;

➡️Look in your mouth! If you notice anything that looks different, wasn’t there before, feels strange, or lingers a long time, give the office a call!

➡️Maintain regular dental visits at least twice a year. Don’t skip routine care that can help you know sooner rather than later when changes are detected.

At your next hygiene visit, we’ll perform an Oral Cancer Screening & Soft Tissue Exam — it’s quick, painless, and part of your regular exam.

How early should you introduce kids to the dentist?🦷

This is a question we get asked a lot and the answer is,

It depends!

General rule of thumb is,

…by the time teeth start to peek through the gums or around the first birthday…whichever comes first!

The goal of these early visits is really just to do what any kid that age should be doing…play!

There might not be many teeth to clean, but even just having young kiddos,

💺Take a ride in the chair
👅Use Mr. Slurpy (aka, the suction)
💦Squirt the water
🎈Get a glove balloon

All these little interactions help kids become more comfortable being at the dentist.

That’s the whole goal!

Because kids that have positive and easy dental visits in childhood, become adults who are not scared of the dentist and are proactive about caring for their teeth.

February is Children’s Dental Health Month and it’s a great reminder of the need for early dental visits that helps your kids keep their teeth for a lifetime.
