Beautiful lady - inside and out 💕🙏🏼

Hawayo Hiromi Kawamura Takata (24 December 1900 – 11 December 1980)

45 years ago today, Hawayo Takata passed through the veil separating this world and that of the ancestors, less than two weeks before her eightieth birthday.

45 years earlier (11 December 1935), Takata was attending her second day of Reiki training at the Hayashi Reiki Kenkyūkai, learning the spiritual therapy to which she would then dedicate her life.

Her 45 years of devotion to Reiki transformed the practice from an obscure Japanese healing art to one poised to become a truly global phenomenon with millions of practitioners worldwide.

If Reiki has touched your life or the life of someone you love, take a moment to remember this remarkable woman and express gratitude for her hard work that made this all possible 🙏

We have exciting news for Reiki Legislation!

A public hearing for a Safe Harbor Practitioner Exemption bill H.2504/S.1481 An Act providing for consumer access to and the right to practice complementary and alternative health care services has been scheduled for this Monday July 14, 2025 @ 10:00 a.m. EDT.

We are requesting the LRMT's, your students and clients to submit written testimony to help get these bills passed. For several years now there has been an affront on Reiki and other complementary energy healing practices in Massachusetts led by state senator Mark Montigny in an attempt to license Reiki. If the safe harbor bill gets passed first, it would set a precedent and likely prevent these bills from popping up again in the future. It also helps ALL states who do not have a safe harbor bill currently. The more we get passed, the easier it will be to get help enact them elsewhere. There are currently only 11 states with safe harbor bills now.

Please Take Action:
You do not have to live in MA to submit written testimony. It only takes a few minutes!

To Submit Written Testimony: Please include “Public Health Committee Testimony, Bill “H2504/S.1471” in the subject line of the email, as well as your name, address, phone number, and organization, if any.

Written testimony will continue to be accepted after the hearing until the relevant bill is acted upon. Such testimony may be submitted via email to JointCommittee.PublicHealth@malegislature.gov.

Those who plan to submit only written testimony may do so before or after the 14th, but the sooner the better.

State why you support protecting unlicensed alternative and complementary health practitioners. Include a personal story, perhaps how you or someone you know benefited from Reiki.

I want to voice my strong support for H.2504 and S.1471, as this law will protect existing complementary and holistic practitioners in Massachusetts and encourage new healers to set up practices, bringing more revenue to the Commonwealth.
