Happy Birthday to one of our Parent Leads Alexis Buenrostro! Alexis has spent the last 8 years working in education & being an advocate in the special needs community. She has been married for 8 years and is a proud mom to a beautiful child with special needs. She loves connecting with other families, sharing experiences, and helping create a community where all children can shine. Happy Birthday Alexis! We are so blessed to have you as part of NISEC SEPAC!

Our vendor highlight of the day is SAFE For Lake County, For Life!

We are honored to have SAFE as one of the booths at our NISEC SEPAC Special Needs & Disabilities Resource Fair. We are here to support ALL kinds of disabilities; physically, mentally, and emotionally. We are also here to support the families of those with disabilities. No matter what they may struggle with, we are here to help.

SAFE is Lake County, Indiana’s coalition against substance, use, abuse and misuse in adults and adolescents.

Members consist of both individuals and organizations and make up THREE PILLARS: PREVENTION (Education), SUPPORT (Treatment & Intervention), and ACCOUNTABILITY (Law Enforcement & Legislation).

Today's vendor showcase for our NISEC SEPAC Special Needs & Disabilities Resource Fair is Uniquely You NWI!

Uniquely You NWI is an all-in-one guide that shares inspiring stories and resources with individuals and their families in the special needs community. Their monthly magazine combines uplifting content, community resources, and opportunities for connection. We are so excited to partner with them. Come check out their booth on February 26th to learn more about all the wonderful advocacy work they do in our community.

Another Vendor highlight of the night: Kyles Legacy

Kyles Legacy is A local non-profit organization based in NWI that supports individuals with disabilities and their families. The organization provides support through events like community activities, Special Olympics, and focuses on friendships in our community.

IN*SOURCE Has been serving the families of and children & young adults with disabilities in NWI for over 50 years! That's an accomplishment we can all strive to obtain! IN*Source provides advocacy, training, & support to the families, children, & the organizations that serve them. A special shout out today for one of our donors Sip Coffee House Hobart! When I went around asking local businesses to hang up flyers & to consider donating food for our NISEC SEPAC Special Needs & Disabilities Resource Fair, SIP was the 1st restaurant to reply! They went above and beyond being friendly, allowing us to put up flyers, & offering to donate cookies to our event. Thank you SIP COFFEE HOUSE for your generosity!

Today the partner we recognize who will be present at our NISEC SEPAC Special Needs & Disabilities Resource Fair is PCES Special Education Parent Advisory Council! PCES SEPAC is the FIRST SEPAC in NWI & was the only one for 3 years until we formed NISEC SEPAC! I always consider PCES as our older sister that is always there when we need them ❤️

We want to recognize the Hobart Fire Department for all their support for our NISEC SEPAC Special Needs & Disabilities Resource Fair! Not only will they have a booth set up with resources & fire safety, They are bringing the big trucks! One thing that excites all ages is seeing the fire trucks! Come out on February 26th to check out their booth, meet some real life firefighters, & see the trucks! 🚒
