Here are a few easy, hands-on snow activities that spark creativity, problem-solving, fine motor and language, all with things you likely already have at home!
Ice Cube Rescue
Freeze small toys or objects in ice cubes. Let kids crack, melt, or salt their way to a rescue.
Rainbow Snow
Add food coloring or liquid watercolors to fresh snow using droppers or squeeze bottles. Talk about colors, patterns, and predictions while creating snowy masterpieces.
Sugar Cube Igloos
Sugar cubes make the best mini igloos for tiny figures or LEGO people. Build, stack, while working on spatial concepts like on, under, next to, and inside.
Snow Volcanoes
Build a snow mound, add baking soda, then pour in vinegar (with a little food coloring for drama!). Instant excitement and a fun way to introduce cause and effect.
Enjoy the snow day!
