Breast Cancer Awareness Month Activities concluded after many wonderful activities.
Breast Cancer Awareness Month was kicked off on September 21st with âHope, Faith and Healingâ activities held at the SWTC where breast cancer thrivers and guest enjoyed the afternoon playing loteria, dancing, praying, mediating and crafting. The thrivers enjoyed a delicious meal at Rebeccas Restaurant. The delicious meal was sponsored by The Crystal City Coalition.
On September 30th- Lopez Health Systems, Inc. Providers were provided with information about the importance of receiving their annual mammograms, screening information and resources.
On Saturday October 5th the Run Way for a Cure was held at El Campestre Event Center. The attendees and honorees were welcomed into the Campestre with an array of informational booths, which provided information and resources.
Master of Ceremonies were Mrs. Mari Thelma Martinez and Ric Mendez Jr. from Mega 93.4 radio station, the event started with invocation by Pastor Dino Espinoza, a moment of silence was held in order to honor and remember the departed. The Royalty from Crystal City and Brush County were acknowledged, followed by the Crystal City Varsity cheerleaders, starting the fun with a powerful cheer.
The talented Uvalde Memorial Hospital Womenâs Imagining Technicians Alba Cano, Mimi Sanchez, Director Jenna Whyrick, were the panelist who offered valuable answers to questions in regards to mammogram screenings.
The beautiful and talented young ladies from the Ballet Folklorico de Cristal danced and entertain the attendees.
The keynote speaker brought the house down as she delivered her heartfelt message and words of wisdom and inspiration, Brenda Jimenez-Macias from Univision San Antonio.
The beautiful survivors and thrivers walked the runway for the cure while their photo and their message of why they were walking the runway for a cure was displayed on the screen. The attendees were serenaded by the beautiful and talented voices of Anita Cuevas-Espinosa, Isidro Rios and Mr. Ray Ricky Montemayor.,
October 12st the 2nd annual Pink Super Taco Golf tournament was held at The Windmill Golf Course in Carrizo Springs where the golfers showed up in their pink golf attire in order to show their support for the cause. Congratulations to the 1st place winner Mr. Juan Moncada, Lou Franco, Bryan Mena.

October 12th at 6:00 PM The First Walk by Faith and Not by Sight Breast Cancer Awareness 5K Run/Walk
was held. the participants were awarded their medals from the event sponsors and our locally young royalty queens.
