🗓️ MARCH WRAP-UP: What We Learned

This month we covered some big topics:

✅ When conservative treatment defies medical expectations
✅ Why function matters more than structure
✅ The partnership of healing (you do the work, I guide the process)
✅ How stress steals sleep (even from practitioners!)
✅ Why early diagnosis gives you more options

But here's the biggest lesson: You don't need perfect conditions to live your best life.

My husband's knee 'looks like a bomb went off,' but we're adventure-ready.

What's YOUR takeaway from this month? What resonated most with you?

Drop it in the comments! And if you missed any of these insights, they're all in this month's newsletter - link in bio! 🔗

Ready for April? We're diving into 'Recovery & Regeneration' - real lessons from the trail and what adventure teaches us about resilience.

🌟 PATIENT SPOTLIGHT FRIDAY!

'I couldn't walk to my mailbox without pain and exhaustion. After working with Janine, I'm not only walking to the mailbox, I'm able to take daily walks around the neighborhood again. It's not about being perfect, it's about being able to enjoy life again.' - Robert K., age 72

THIS is what it's all about! 🙌

Not perfect MRIs or pain-free living - but being able to ENJOY LIFE again.

What simple daily activity would you love to do without pain or exhaustion?
• Walking to the mailbox?
• Playing with grandkids?
• Climbing stairs?
• Gardening?

Share below - let's celebrate the 'simple' goals that aren't simple at all! 👇

🏥 WHEN TO GET IMAGING: The Early Diagnosis Advantage

Lesson learned: If multiple practitioners recommend imaging, GET IT DONE.

Early diagnosis = more options
Delayed diagnosis = compressed timeline

My husband was advised by multiple practitioners to get an MRI. He waited a month. Now we're making major decisions as our adventure approaches.

Don't be the patient who waits. When your healthcare team recommends imaging:
✅ Ask why they're recommending it
✅ Understand what they're looking for
✅ Get it done promptly
✅ Use the information to make informed decisions

Your future self will thank you for acting early rather than waiting.

Have you ever delayed recommended testing? What happened? Share below! 👇

💪 YOUR HEALTH ADVENTURE STARTS NOW

You don't need perfect structure to have great function.
You don't need to be pain-free to be adventure-ready.
You just need the right approach and willingness to optimize what's possible.

My husband's knee 'looks like a bomb went off,' but he's hiking Patagonia.
What's possible for YOU when you stop waiting for perfect conditions?

This month's newsletter is packed with real-world lessons about:
🔹 When conservative treatment meets surgical reality
🔹 Why function matters more than structure
🔹 How to optimize what's possible
🔹 The partnership of healing

🎒 ADVENTURE UPDATE: We're Patagonia-Bound!

Plot twist: The surgeon who said my husband's knee 'looks like a bomb went off' also said...
'Keep doing what you're doing.'

His plan:
✅ Custom hiking brace
✅ Continue our protocols
✅ Adventure approved!

Sometimes you don't need perfect conditions - you just need to optimize what's possible.

What adventure are YOU preparing for? Hiking? Playing with grandkids? Walking to the mailbox pain-free?

Every goal is valid! Share yours below! 👇

🎯 FUNCTION > STRUCTURE: The Game-Changer

My husband's MRI looks catastrophic, but he's hiking-ready.

This is what I see all the time:
• Patients with 'perfect' MRIs in constant pain
• Patients with 'terrible' imaging living their best lives

The lesson? Don't let imaging results define your limitations.
Instead, ask:

✅ What can I do today?
✅ How can I optimize my function?
✅ What's possible with the right support?

Sometimes conservative treatment isn't about 'fixing' everything - it's about optimizing function and preparing your body for whatever comes next.

What's one function you'd love to improve? Walking further? Playing with kids? Sleeping better?

🔧 SOME THINGS I CAN FIX, SOME I CAN'T

Spinal stenosis? I can't clean that up.
Severe bone-on-bone arthritis? I can't reverse that.
Broken bones? They need to be set properly.
But torn ligaments? That's different.

Ligaments CAN heal - but it takes time, the right approach, and months of dedicated treatment with all hands on deck.

Want to know what structural issues can actually be addressed? What takes time vs. what's truly 'unfixable'? And how to optimize what's possible regardless of your starting point?

🏃‍♀️ INSPIRATION FRIDAY: Age is Just a Number!

Meet Robert: 88.5 years old, 500 miles, 32 consecutive days of hiking the Camino de Santiago. NO DAYS OFF.

When I heard this story from my trainer Michelle Myatt, I realized my Patagonia goals weren't ambitious enough! 😅

If Robert can tackle 500 miles at 88, what's YOUR excuse?

What's the most inspiring fitness story you've heard? Or what's YOUR 'age is just a number' moment?

Share below - let's celebrate what's possible! 👇

🤝 THE TRUTH ABOUT HEALING: It's a Partnership

Here's what I want every patient to understand:

What I do in my office is actually very little compared to what YOU do at home.
My treatments help hold everything together, but real healing happens when everything works together:

✅ Getting proper sleep (7-9 hours)
✅ Eating real, whole foods (not processed junk)
✅ Taking quality supplements
✅ Getting daily sunlight
✅ Having a supportive environment
✅ Not doing crazy things that re-injure you

My role? I optimize function and create ideal conditions for healing.
Your role? You do the daily work that allows your body to heal.

Healing is a partnership. I can't do it for you, but I can guide you.

What's the hardest part of 'doing your part' in healing? Share below! 👇

📊 DATA DOESN'T LIE: What My Oura Ring Revealed

January: Sleeping great, energy through the roof ✅

February: 2+ hour sleep deficit, energy tanking ❌

While managing my husband's recovery and our approaching adventure, stress was stealing my sleep - and I didn't even realize it until the data showed me.

Even as practitioners, we're not immune to the very issues we help our patients navigate.

Want to know what my sleep data taught me about stress? How I'm using my own protocols to recover? And why tracking matters more than you think?
