🏡 How Parents Can Support Mental Health at Home

Supporting a child’s mental health doesn’t require having all the answers. Small, consistent moments of connection and safety at home can make a powerful difference over time.

Here are a few simple ways parents can support emotional well-being:
• Name emotions — help children put words to what they’re feeling
• Validate feelings — let them know their emotions make sense
• Keep routines — predictability helps children feel safe
• Model coping — show how you manage stress and big emotions
• Create safe conversations — listen without rushing to fix

You don’t have to do everything perfectly. Showing up with care, patience, and consistency matters more than anything else. 🤍

✨ Celebrating Work Anniversaries at The Center for Courageous Living ✨

As we look back on December and January, we want to take a moment to celebrate and honor members of our incredible team who reached meaningful work anniversaries.

💚 Domenica celebrated 4 years with CFCL in December
💚 Sue Proebsting celebrated 2 years with CFCL in January
💚 Gia Anders celebrated 1 year with CFCL in January

Each of you brings compassion, dedication, and heart into the work you do every day. We are deeply grateful for your commitment to our clients, our mission, and our community. CFCL wouldn’t be what it is without the people who pour into it so wholeheartedly.

Thank you for being part of our journey — and for helping create a place rooted in courage, care, and connection. 💚

Healing doesn’t happen through words alone — it happens through safe, supportive relationships.

For many children, teens, and adults, therapy becomes the first place where they feel truly seen, heard, and accepted without judgment. A place where emotions are allowed, trust is built, and healing can begin at a pace that feels safe.

At Center for Courageous Living, we believe meaningful change happens when people feel supported — not rushed, labeled, or pressured. Whether someone is navigating anxiety, trauma, relationship challenges, or emotional overwhelm, support can make all the difference.

Reflection: What would it feel like to have a space where you or your child feels safe to be exactly who they are?

👉 Take the first step toward restoration. Reach out today to connect with our team and begin your journey toward renewal and growth.

At The Center for Courageous Living, we understand that trauma doesn’t just live in our memories — it lives in our nervous system.

Fight, flight, freeze, and fawn are natural trauma responses developed to help us survive. They are not flaws or failures, but protective patterns your body learned along the way ❤️‍🩹

• Fight — responding with anger, defensiveness, or control to feel safe
• Flight — avoiding, staying busy, or pulling away to escape discomfort
• Freeze — feeling stuck, numb, or shut down when things feel overwhelming
• Fawn — people-pleasing or prioritizing others’ needs to avoid conflict

When these responses continue long after the danger has passed, they can affect relationships, emotions, and daily life. Our trauma-informed therapists work alongside you to help you understand your unique response cycle, build coping skills, and begin restoring a sense of safety and balance 🤝

Healing isn’t about erasing the past — it’s about reconnecting with yourself and moving forward with clarity and support. You don’t have to do this alone 💛

💭 Reflection: Which response do you notice showing up most often for you right now?
👉 Reach out to learn more or ask questions — support is available.

From shy moments to confident steps, growth happens through supportive relationships. 🤍

In Adlerian and child-centered play therapy, we focus on the Crucial C’s:
✨ Connect — feeling a sense of belonging
✨ Capable — believing they can try and learn
✨ Count — knowing they are important and valued
✨ Courage — being willing to try, even when it feels hard

Through playful, supportive sessions, children are given a safe space to explore challenges, build confidence, and develop skills that carry into everyday life. Over time, fear can turn into resilience, and hesitation into self-trust.

💬 Curious about play therapy or wondering if it might be a good fit for your child?
