We are saddened to share the passing of Dr. John Ackermann, a pioneer in transplant medicine and a founding force behind our TGH Transplant Institute.
Dr. Ackermann helped establish the program that would lead to Tampa General’s first transplant in 1974—going on to touch and save countless lives and shape the future of care in our region and beyond.
His vision, leadership and commitment to patients built a foundation that continues to guide our teams today. We are grateful for the legacy he leaves behind and the lives forever changed because of his work.
