i know it’s incredibly difficult to give time for yourself right now, in any capacity. many people i talk to who are out on the front lines in their own ways, are struggling to eat, sleep, or really feel anything but exhausted.
and thats not weakness, thats a nervous system that’s been under prolonged stress.
when we are pushed to live in chronic activation (constant urgency, crisis response, emotional labor, caretaking) our nervous system shifts into survival mode. cortisol stays elevated. muscles stay tight. sleep becomes shallow and emotions either overflow… or shut down.
which is why putting yourself last just isn’t an option right now.
so step outside and walk in nature, allow the earth to hold you.
it’s is not about pretending everything is okay. it’s about giving your nervous system enough stability to keep showing up. it’s about restoring emotional range so you can feel more than just exhaustion.
you cannot pour from a nervous system that is constantly in survival mode.
FIVE minutes outside counts.
TEN minutes counts.
walk slowly. let your shoulders drop. notice your breath. allow yourself to simply be present.
