began long before I ever opened the doors. Before I became a therapist, I was a woman searching for answers about her own body. Chronic pain pushed me into holistic care, and the transformation I experienced gave me purpose. That experience is why I care so deeply about helping women feel better in their bodies too.

I am a mom raising two little ones and a wife doing my best to stay present through every season. Entrepreneurship is beautiful, but the real work happens behind the scenes: late nights, early mornings, and a lot of faith that what I give is bringing someone closer to relief and restoration.

If you asked a room full of people what self-care means, you’d probably get a dozen different answers. And honestly, they’d all be right. But at its core, self-care is about one thing: taking care of yourself—mind, body, and spirit.

So, as we step into a new month (finally), let’s try this again. Take a real moment to check in with yourself. What do you actually need? More rest? A little breathing room? A massage (obviously)? Whatever it is, don’t just acknowledge it—pursue it. Be intentional about slowing down and making sure you’re taken care of too.

How do you calm the body’s stress response when you’re stuck in fight, flight, or freeze mode?

You breathe.
You pause.
You reflect.

I know we’ve heard that taking care of yourself is not selfish, but it’s not always easy to do. For many of us, nurturing others from a place of emptiness has become second nature, making it feel unfamiliar—even wrong—to tend to our own needs.

Together, we are learning in real time how to balance the duality of supporting others while allowing ourselves to be supported. Embrace this lesson—it’s one worth holding onto.

When you are grieving or in shock, here are some practical, science-backed ways to begin calming your body and mind:

💆🏾‍♀️Activate the Vagus Nerve:
Practice slow, deep belly breathing. Inhale for 4 seconds, hold for 4 seconds, and exhale for 6 seconds. This helps signal your body to shift from a stress response to a state of calm.

💆🏾‍♀️ Ground Yourself:
Use grounding techniques like the 5-4-3-2-1 method:

đź–¤Name 4 things you can touch.
đź–¤Name 3 things you can hear.

There aren’t many words that will help heal the hearts and minds of those who are now left to pick up the pieces of their lives. As we all navigate this great loss as a community let’s do our best to maintain our health and wellbeing so we can be strong enough to get to work and rebuild.

I hope these tips help serve as useful information as the air quality here is horrendous and will be so for a while.

Thank you to the first responders and all of us who are on the grounds offering our resources and gifts to bring light to a city we love.

As we step into 2025, these 7 simple steps will help you create space for something new. Whether it’s clearing physical clutter, setting meaningful intentions, or prioritizing self-care, there’s no better time to start.

7 Simple Steps to Grow in 2025:

1. Reflect & Celebrate: Write 3 wins from 2024 and one area to improve in 2025.

2. Declutter: Tackle one space—desk, closet, or purse—and let go of what no longer serves you.

3. Prioritize You: Block out time for self-care, even in small daily moments.

4. Replace Energy Drainers: Swap habits that drain you for ones that fuel growth—like journaling or deep breathing.

5. Set a Focus Word: Choose a theme for 2025 (e.g., “peace” or “strength”) and align your actions with it.

6. Practice Gratitude: Write down 3 things you’re grateful for every day.
