Busy Eye Physicians and Surgeons looking to add a Certified Ophthalmology Technician to their busy practice.
The Ophthalmic Technician position supports the physicians by providing patient care and conducting patient screening tests.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Job Summary Under close supervision, possesses knowledge and skills in history taking, patient services, instrument maintenance, clinical optics, basic ocular motility, visual fields, intermediate tonometry, contact lenses, ocular pharmacology, and photography. Incumbent assists physicians and other technical support staff to perform diagnostic tests necessary for evaluation of patient eye problems. Performs related duties as required.
Qualifications # # Education: High School Diploma or equivalent. Minimum Experience: One year of relevant experience. Required Licenses/Certifications: Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) Preferred Licenses/Certifications: Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) Certification or coursework working towards a COT.
Knowledge, Skills # Duties # Act in an appropriate and professional manner as defined by the company Standards of Behavior, Policy and Procedures, and Scope of Services. Role model AHS Standards of Behavior. Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint).
Current office administrative practices and procedures. Correct business English, including spelling, grammar and punctuation. Use independent judgment and initiative within established policies and procedures.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of individuals from various socioeconomic, ethnic and cultural backgrounds. Advanced general medical knowledge. Knowledge of ophthalmic anesthesia and surgical procedures.
Knowledge of ocular medications and their applications. Interpersonal/human relations skills. Ability to perform tasks to which specific procedures apply.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and attentiveness to detail. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English. Bilingual abilities a plus.
