3 Signs Acupuncture is working:

1. Sensation at the needle site (or De Qi): the acupuncturist can feel when the body responds to the needle. For the patient, this response can feel like warmth, a heaviness, a slight buzzing sensation, etc. Feeling a sensation is a great sign that your body is aware of the needles and responding to acupuncture. Note: this shouldn’t feel painful. If it does, let your practitioner know.

2. Feeling relaxed or energized after: depending on your health goal, the treatment may make you feel either relaxed and settled, or energized and invigorated.

3. Improved symptoms: it is usually best to pick 1-3 health goals to focus on in order to make the treatment as efficient as possible. That being said, many patients report feeling improvement in various areas of health with regular acupuncture sessions.
