sometimes baby writes the birth plan
this sweet boy made his epic arrival off exit 24, which happened to be the perfect spot - calm, dark and quiet. 45 minutes to Morgantown and 25 minutes to Cumberland - we had no choice but to park it and call 911.
As Whitney surrendered to the surges, her body bore down in the back of their SUV. Ian calmly supported nearby, knowing this was far from an emergency. I made the call and checked progress. Baby was easy to see.
Whitney continued to follow her body's lead until the EMTs arrived. They got her in the warm ambulance just in time and with only a few more pushes, he was here. Vigorously crying, perfectly pink.
I left my car on Lower New Germany to follow them with theirs to the hospital. Jaw on the floor, completely in awe. Their calm trust never wavered as they allowed strength and instinct to lead the way.
Ridiculously honored to witness and support this incredible birth!
