We’re proud to welcome Somerset Trust Company as a supporter of our City Place Free Produce Giveaways and we're incredibly grateful for their generosity.
Several months ago, the City received difficult news from the Maryland Food Bank. Due to budget constraints, they could no longer provide free produce to their Pantry on the Go partners. Beginning in February 2026, each monthly delivery would require a $500 fee which was an unexpected expense that had not been included in the City’s annual budget. Without additional funding, our City Place Free Produce Giveaways which typically help feed nearly 300 households/month were at serious risk of coming to an end.
Determined to keep this vital program alive, we decided to reach out to trusted community partners who have supported us in the past, hoping they might be able to help offset at least part of the cost. Our first call was to Somerset Trust Company—and that was all it took.
To our immense gratitude, Somerset Trust didn’t just offer partial support—they committed to covering the entire $6,000 cost for a full year! In addition, they pledged volunteer support to assist with the monthly distributions. Their response was immediate, generous, and inspiring. Words truly cannot express how thankful we are.
Because of their extraordinary commitment, families throughout Frostburg will continue to receive access to fresh, healthy produce each month. This is more than a sponsorship—it’s an investment in the well-being of our community. Moments like this remind us how fortunate we are to live in a place where neighbors and local businesses step up to care for one another.
To Somerset Trust Company, we extend our heartfelt THANK YOU. Your generosity has made a lasting difference in Frostburg, and your partnership means more than we can say.
We’re excited to keep this important program going strong in 2026 and beyond.
