Paul Jennings Grigg, 82, of Green Spring, WV, went to be with the Lord peacefully and surrounded by his wife and family April 2, 2026, at Wi******er Medical Center.
Paul was a man who lived with pride, purpose, and an unwavering love for his family. He spent most of his life working in construction, where he not only built with his hands but shaped lives—teaching an innumerable number of people the trade and the values that went with it. He often said, “If it has my name on it, it will be done right,” a phrase that perfectly captured how he approached everything he did.
Paul took great pride in all his work, whether he was building, gardening, lending a helping hand, or simply showing up when someone needed him. He put his whole heart into everything, and it showed. He loved fiercely, laughed often, and had a quick wit that could light up a room. A natural storyteller, Paul never knew a stranger and had a rare gift for making people feel welcome, seen, and heard.
He was a straight shooter—someone you could always count on to tell it like it is. His kindness was genuine, his generosity sincere, and his humor unforgettable. Paul had a special talent for finding a bargain and was especially proud of his garage-sale deals, which brought him nearly as much joy as the stories he loved to tell about them.
Family was everything to Paul. To him, family meant those he loved and claimed as his own, and he held them all in the highest regard.
He is preceded in death by his beloved mother, Dona Velle (Wellmon) Grigg; his father, Maurice Sidney Grigg; his brothers, Herman Cicero Grigg and Hershel Thomas Grigg; and, as the last of his generation, several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
Paul will be dearly missed by his incredibly loving and devoted wife, Carolyn Grigg; his children, Sherry Muniz, Becky Shock (Rod), Beth Sagar (Ed), and Mike Grigg (Angie); and his step-children, Donald Kaiser (Stephanie), Jody Kaiser, Crissy Marshall (Chris), Shane Fraser (Rachell), Sarah Champion (Eddie), Lindsey Wooten, and his favorite child of all, Precious. His legacy lives on through his 28 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild, all of whom he loved deeply. He is also lovingly remembered by the many nieces and nephews who thought the world of Uncle Paul.
Paul Grigg leaves behind a life well lived—built on hard work, honesty, laughter, and love. His presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit, lessons, and stories will live on in all who were blessed to know him.
Though our hearts are heavy, we find peace in knowing that Paul is now in Heaven, restored and at rest. We look forward to the beautiful day when we will see him again, reunited in God’s presence, where love never ends and stories continue forever.
Viewing will be on Monday, April 6th from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A. 108 Virginia Ave, Cumberland, MD. A funeral service will immediately follow beginning at 2:00 p.m. with his nephew Minister Kalvin Grigg officiating.
Interment will be in Forest Glenn Cemetery, Green Spring, WV.
