For this month's "Mindful Monday" see below for some information on Box Breathing:

Today, let’s focus on one simple yet powerful mindfulness technique: box breathing — a method used by athletes, therapists, and even first responders to calm the mind and body. It’s easy: inhale for 4 seconds, hold for 4 seconds, exhale for 4 seconds, and hold again for 4 seconds. Repeat this a few times and notice how your heart rate slows, your thoughts settle, and your focus sharpens.

Taking just a few minutes each day for mindful breathing can help reduce stress, improve concentration, and even enhance physical recovery. Whether you’re managing pain, building strength, or simply navigating a busy day, mindfulness can be an important part of your overall wellness. šŸ’™

Try it today — pause, breathe, and be present. Your mind and body will thank you.

Are you or someone you know experiencing Parkinson's Disease? If so, Progressive can help! See the information below for more details for this month's Friday Fact!

Physical therapy plays a crucial role in managing Parkinson’s disease, helping individuals improve mobility, balance, and quality of life. Parkinson’s disease can lead to stiffness, tremors, and difficulty with coordination, but with the right therapy, you can maintain independence and stay active for longer. A physical therapist specializing in Parkinson’s can guide you through exercises that target strength, flexibility, and balance, helping you move more freely and reducing the risk of falls. By addressing the specific challenges posed by Parkinson’s, physical therapy helps you live life to the fullest.
One highly effective treatment for Parkinson’s is the LSVT BIG program, which is designed to improve overall movement and function. LSVT BIG is a research-based, intensive physical therapy program that focuses on large, controlled movements to help reduce the motor symptoms of Parkinson’s. The program involves repetitive, high-amplitude exercises that retrain the brain to initiate and sustain bigger movements, which helps improve walking, balance, and posture. LSVT BIG can also help with daily tasks such as dressing, getting out of a chair, and climbing stairs, making it easier to manage everyday activities with confidence.
The long-term benefits of physical therapy for Parkinson’s disease are significant. Regular physical therapy, including programs like LSVT BIG, not only improves mobility and balance but also helps slow the progression of symptoms and maintain independence. By strengthening muscles and retraining movement patterns, physical therapy helps individuals with Parkinson’s stay active and engaged in life for as long as possible. If you or a loved one is living with Parkinson’s disease, consider scheduling with Progressive to see how therapy can make a positive difference in managing symptoms and improving overall well-being.
