It's and we are going to break down upward facing dog. This pose generally comes right after chaturanga. We see our students sometimes throwing themselves into this pose to avoid chaturanga. Try to slowly move into this pose to use your muscles better.

The purpose of this pose is to open up the front of your chest. Since many of our jobs require us to sit, this is a great counter pose to sitting. And as you open the front of your chest more, you will be able to take deeper inhales.

Alignment tips:
-Point your toes behind you
-Lift your thighs off your mat
-Press the mat away from you to get more lift through your body

If this pose is too much on your back, you can choose to take cobra instead. Try it out and let us know how this pose feels in the comments below!

Last day of the month and another !

Are you ready to end February on a high? Today, we're going to be doing the Chaturanga pose. So stand up, move that body, grab your mat and some comfy clothes, and let's get started!

Now why Chaturanga? Well, we love this pose because it creates a lot of strength in your upper body and core. And our community members are always asking for more core strength ;)

You ready?

STEP ONE: Start in a plank position (always option to drop your knees to the ground)
STEP TWO: Keep your core activated by pulling your pelvis up to your nose
STEP THREE: Bend your elbows to 90 degrees (or less depending on your strength)

Our teachers will guide you through various poses that will help you stretch, strengthen your muscles, and heighten your awareness of your body, all while connecting to your breath!

Have you moved your body today? If not, this is the sign for you to get up and do a forward fold with us!

What are the benefits of doing a forward fold? Well, this pose really helps to strech your hamstrings. Especially if you sit at work, your hamstrings can begin to tighten up. We do this pose during class often, and you can always add it in as a break from working at your desk.

STEP ONE: Toes at 12 o'clock
STEP TWO: Feet together
STEP THREE: Fold your torso towards your legs

When it comes to pain, do you tend to avoid it at all costs and try not to think about it? Or worry about it at all times and worry you’ll never not feel pain again?

Pain is different for everyone and some people tend to not have the time to do certain exercises to help alleviate their pain, and ( this is going to be strange to hear from a physical therapist!) that’s okay.
