After gathering lots of feedback, and watching face shield design around the world, we’ve modified the original face shield design to better protect the top of the shield. The concept is very simple, by modifying the top@of the@shield we can pull it back and secure it with a simple zip tie. Similar concepts have been validated at various medical centers. In the meantime Max has printing over 150 masks. Our v1 mask will be ready to send this week. Our version 2 mask will allow us to print 50% quicker and uses less material, allowing us to make more masks, quicker while stretching our budget. Huge shout out to Max Kempi and Aaron Freyer who have worked relentlessly to get these done! @ Cupertino, California

COVID is hitting the SF Bay Area hard but that doesn’t mean we are out for the count. No work, no problem. Max Kempi, our Director of Advanced Prosthetics, has taken it upon himself to 3D print 100 face shields for Santa Clara Valley Medical using the COVID open source 3D printing protect. The design is super simple and the shield attaches using a standard three hole punch, we placed a clear plastic sleeve for demo purposes but we have real plastic showing up on Monday. Get it done Max! Dental labs, want to get involved? DM us for info. Got suggestions? Let us know. @ San Jose, California

Big shout out to for donating 4 cases of masks, gloves and shields to front line workers at Valley Medical! Continuing to do their part to raise awareness too! Bravo👏👏👏

The world is experiencing a shortage of surgical masks and respirators. Countries around the globe are scrambling to bulk up their mask supplies to help curb the spread of the novel coronavirus and allow medical professionals to safely treat infected patients. It’s crucial for health care workers, doctors, and nurses on the front lines of the disease to have the proper protective gear to lower the risk of contracting Covid-19, but America’s mask supply is being so rapidly depleted that even the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has suggested homemade masks, like bandanas or scarves, “as a last resort” for health care providers in “settings where face masks are not available.” Hospitals across America are running out of supplies, and medical professionals online are urging the public to donate whatever they’ve stockpiled to local health care facilities. Masks and respirators are typically designed to be worn only once, but in the face of dwindling inventory, some health care providers are asked to re-wear their gear. Alarmed by the lack of protective equipment, doctors, nurses, and health workers are sharing anecdotes about the risk this brings to them and their patients, calling on people to donate what they can.
CDG has elected to support the local hospital and donate the masks we have on hand. We are asking all our dental colleagues and friends to reach out and do the same. We have included a list of items to consider donation and organizations to contact.
Valley Medical Center Foundation is accepting donations. They can be reached at: Donations can be delivered between the hours of 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. at 2400 Clove Drive, San Jose. Gifts are tax-deductible. Questions? Call 408-885-5299 or email vmcfoundation@hhs.sccgov.org.

Bay Area Dentists listen up! We know you’re not working:) How about you take some of your extra supplies and donate it to our front line community medical workers at Valley Medical. They are in desperate need of supplies. Doctors, nurses and staff don’t have what they need. DM us and we can send a driver to get it. if you can’t donate, that’s fine, sharing this message can be a great way to help too! Stay safe everyone.

We need your help. County of Santa Clara Health System staff are hard at work preparing for COVID-19. Help us take care of them. Donations of supplies such as masks, disinfectant wipes, hand santizer and more are needed. For a complete list, visit www.vmcfoundation.org/covid19.

Don't have that stuff? Donate money so we can buy it.

Santa Clara Valley Medical Center, O'Connor Hospital and St. Louise Regional Hospital are ready and prepared to respond to this crisis. But we all have to work together to make sure it stays that way. Please help immediately and as generously as you can.
