Frontier County Sheriff Department’s Employee spotlight looks a little different this week.

Instead of highlighting one individual, we want to take a moment to recognize the Frontier County firefighters and surrounding area departments. During recent events, the teamwork, dedication and long hours put in by everyone has not gone unnoticed.
From our local responders to the neighboring departments who have stepped in to help - thank you for your commitment to keeping our communities safe. We are grateful to work alongside with such hardworking and selfless individuals.

Your support, cooperation, and willingness to jump in when needed truly show what strong communities are all about. Thank you.

Thank you to the Maywood FBLA group and all the support from the community.

The Maywood Future Business Leaders of America recently hosted a soup luncheon and silent auction to support the Frontier County Ambulance Fund. The goal of this fundraiser is to help purchase a power load system for the ambulance stretcher — essential equipment that allows EMTs to transport patients more safely and efficiently while reducing physical strain on volunteers.

If you were unable to attend but would still like to contribute, donations can be sent to the Frontier County Ambulance Fund. Your support helps ensure our community’s emergency responders have the tools they need to continue providing exceptional care.

On the evening of November 13th, the Frontier County Ambulance was dispatched to a location in our coverage area for a female having cardiac issues. Paramedic Fisher responded in FC 2 and Deputy Hofrock from the Frontier County Sheriff’s Office arrived four minutes after the page. EMT Angeline and Paramedic Bierfreund arrived a few minutes after that.
Patient was transported to Great Plains Health in North Platte, treatment began on scene including: 12 lead EKG, baby aspirin, IV established, IV fluids, Pain medication, and an anti-emetic for nausea was given.
During the transport, the patient went into a witnessed Ventricular Tachycardia arrest, Defibrillation and chest compressions were performed, Return of Spontaneous Circulation (pulses) was achieved with the patient awakening and talking after approximately 2 minutes.
The patient continued to be transferred to GPH with treatment focused on after cardiac arrest care, including airway, breathing and blood pressure management. The patient remained awake the remainder of the transport, subsequent 12 lead EKG's were performed and transmitted to GPH. A cardiac alert notification was given to the Emergency Department staff prior to arrival.
Upon arrival to the Emergency Department, the patient was immediately taken to the cath lab and further stabilized.
After staying in the hospital for four days, the patient was discharged home.
Several key factors played a role in the patient’s survival, beginning with early recognition of something being wrong by the patient and calling 911, a timely response from EMS providers, knowledge and understanding of the severity of the patient's condition, early defibrillation and CPR, the staff at GPH Emergency Department and expediting the Cath Lab team and the Cardiologist.
This story is a reminder to not ignore your body, pay attention to your signs and symptoms, call 911 if you feel “off”. The patient knew something was not right, her decision to call 911 played an integral part in her survival.
I want to thank everyone that was involved in this successful call.

*DISCLAIMER: Patient agreed to the above write up.
