Dear Patients and Friends:

Beginning on July 1, 2022, our Falmouth location will be operated by Harrison Memorial Hospital who will be transitioning this location to HMH Primary Care-Falmouth, a Rural Health Clinic facility. This will allow, in the near future, a wider variety of services and specialty physicians that currently are not available in Pendleton County.

Please note that our patients who choose to receive services at the Clinic in Falmouth will, starting July 1st, be billed by Harrison Memorial Hospital and not by our private practice.

Pendleton County has always been important to us, and we will still have a presence in the Falmouth location weekly working through the HMH clinic in order to continue to see our longtime Pendleton County patients.

There will be a short time frame from June 27th to June 30th during which our Cynthiana location will be taking care of all of our Falmouth patients’ needs as staff in the Falmouth location are training.

We look forward to this new opportunity to serve our patients and increase outreach to the Pendleton County community.

We are so proud!

Congratulations to Dr. Greg Cooper, HMH Medical Staff Member, on receiving the Cynthiana-Harrison County Chamber of Commerce Community Impact Health Care Professional of the Year Award. Dr. Cooper has been practicing medicine in Cynthiana and the surrounding communities for the past 40 years.

On October 11, Representative Mark Hart presented Dr. J. Gregory Cooper with the Kentucky House of Representatives Citation of Appreciation for 40 years of medical service in the community.

Dr. John Gregory Cooper joined the HMH Active Medical Staff in 1981 and celebrated 40 years as a member in August.

A native of Bedford, KY, Cooper earned his undergraduate degree from Centre College in Danville, KY. He then earned his medical degree from University of Louisville, Louisville, KY. Following medical school, Cooper completed his residency in family medicine at St. Michael Hospital, Milwaukee, WI, where he served as chief resident. Upon completion of his residency, he moved to Cynthiana, KY, and began a private practice in 1981, practicing the full scope of family medicine which included obstetrics.

In 1995, Dr. Cooper formed Family Care Associates with Dr. Leroy Gallenstein and Juawanna Schuller, APRN. In 1997, Dr. Henry Norfleet joined the practice followed by Dr. Brian Mulberry in 2004. Today, the practice includes Dr. Cooper, Dr. Norfleet and Dr. Mulberry along with Kathy Hammond, APRN, Dana Wyatt, APRN, and Crista Crowdy, PA with office locations in both Cynthiana and Falmouth.

During his 40-year tenure on the HMH medical staff, Cooper has served two terms as chief of staff from 1984 to 1985 and from 1992 to 1993. He also served on the obstetrics, emergency and medicine committees as a member of the medical staff. In addition, Cooper served on the HMH Board of Directors from 2003 to 2011 and as board chairman from 2008 to 2009.

His list of achievements on the state level include: Kentucky Medical Association (KMA) president from 2004-2005; KMA trustee from the 9th District; KMA Board of Trustees, where he served as chair, and many years of committee involvement. Cooper currently serves as a senior KMA delegate to the American Medical Association (AMA). He also served as the Chair of the Southeastern Delegation of the AMA from 2015-2016.

In 2010, he received the Kentucky Academy of Family Physicians’ Distinguished Service Award. In 2013, Cooper was honored with the Distinguished Service Award by the KMA. He also volunteers as an assistant clinical professor for University of Louisville and University of Kentucky Family and Community Medicine programs.

Remaining true to his rural roots, Cooper has always been involved in the community. He has served as an elder at Cynthiana Presbyterian Church and as a member of the Cynthiana Rotary Club.

Cooper and his wife, Debbie, have two children and two grandchildren.
