As 2020 comes to a close, I encourage you to be thankful that-even though you faced many obstacles, you are still here. Focus on what you learned the past 12 months and use it to being a better you in 2021.

Grow spiritually; improve your mental health; be grateful; learn a new skill; go back to school; remove toxic people from your lives; set boundaries; eat healthy meals; exercise; schedule a dental and wellness appointment; and though it is difficult, love everyone.

I am grateful for my family. Each morning identify one thing that you are grateful for to start your day.

So often I hear people say, “I don’t have anything to be grateful for. Everything is going wrong in my life.”

STOP: Did you wake up this morning? Do you have a roof over your head? Do you have clothes to wear? Do you have food to eat? Do you have a job? Do you have transportation (personal vehicle, cab, bus) and the list goes on. If the answer is yes to any of the above, you have something to be grateful for.

Anxiety is normal; however, when it affects your daily life, it’s no longer normal and it’s necessary to seek help.

Some symptoms of anxiety: nervousness, restlessness, sweating, trembling, difficulty sleeping, difficulty concentrating, insomnia and constant worry.

Ways to reduce anxiety: deep breathing, challenge negative thoughts (ask yourself if your thoughts are true), replace negative thoughts with positives, exercise, and meditate.

Remember, only focus on things within your control.
