When depression or anxiety does not improve with traditional therapy or medication, it can feel discouraging and isolating.

This experience is more common than people realize.

Treatment resistance often means the nervous system needs a different kind of support. Approaches like neurofeedback, ketamine assisted psychotherapy, and functional medicine work with the brain and body together, rather than focusing on singular symptoms alone.

Your brain is always working to protect you. Sometimes it just gets stuck in patterns that once helped but no longer serve you.

Brain training is about giving the nervous system new information so it can reorganize itself. This process supports regulation, flexibility, and a greater sense of ease over time.

Many people notice shifts in focus, sleep, mood, and how their body responds to stress.

Lasting healing often requires looking at the full picture, not only what’s happening in the mind. When therapy feels stuck, there may be something happening beneath the surface in the body or brain that needs attention. The gut, nervous system, and brain are in constant communication, and when one is out of balance, the others are affected.

Our bodies are complex systems. Sometimes multiple factors are interacting at once, creating symptoms that don’t resolve with one single approach. Addressing the root contributors rather than just the symptoms allows healing to move from temporary relief into something more sustainable.

Animals have a special way of helping our nervous system relax and find balance. Spending time with them can reduce stress and anxiety, encourage mindfulness, and help the body settle as breathing deepens and the heart rate slows.

The therapeutic benefits of animal assisted therapy include stronger communication, emotional connection, confidence, and empathy. It can be especially helpful for those who find human-to-human interactions challenging, as animals often serve as a bridge to social engagement.

At our Cypress, Texas counseling & wellness center, we offer animal assisted therapy as part of a holistic approach to therapy. Our sessions focus on holistic mental health care, with trained therapy dogs thoughtfully included to create a safe and supportive space for healing.

Depression can feel heavy.
Stuck.
Exhausting.

There is currently a clinical research study exploring a new investigational treatment for Major Depressive Disorder (MDD).

The study, sponsored by Cybin, is evaluating a modified based compound. This treatment is still being researched and is not FDA approved.

Participants may receive either the study medication or a placebo as part of the trial design. All screening, medical monitoring, and care are handled directly by the official research team.

If you’ve felt like traditional approaches haven’t fully helped — or you’re simply curious about emerging research — you can complete a brief screening form to see if you may qualify.

We are not conducting this study, but we believe in sharing responsible, research-based opportunities that may support those navigating depression.

Participation is voluntary, and eligibility is determined by the research team.

Mental health research moves forward because people are willing to explore new possibilities.

Disharmony in the body is not something to push away or ignore. The parts of us that feel uncomfortable, reactive, or heavy are often the parts asking for care and attention. When those areas are met with avoidance, they tend to grow louder.

Harmony develops through relationship. Learning to listen, nurture, and accept every part of yourself creates internal safety. When all parts are allowed a place at the table, the body and nervous system can begin to settle and reorganize.

Your symptoms make sense. Anxiety isn’t random, and chronic fatigue isn’t laziness. These are signals, NOT flaws. Your body and brain are responding to something, and the first step toward understanding them can be as simple as dropping back and noticing what’s happening in your body. Mindfulness and gentle awareness allow you to observe sensations, emotions, and patterns without judgment, opening the door to healing.

There are many paths to wellbeing, and finding the approach that fits you is key. Paying attention to your body, emotions, and nervous system can help you discover what your symptoms are asking for, and create space to regulate and restore balance.

Healing is personal, and honoring your own process is an important part of long-term mental and emotional health.

We offer EMDR therapy in Cypress, Texas, along with functional medicine, LENS neurofeedback, ketamine-assisted psychotherapy, talk therapy and counseling, dietitian support, animal assisted therapy, psychiatry, and medication care.

Your gut and brain are closely connected. This relationship plays a key role in mood, energy, and focus. When gut health is out of balance, it can contribute to anxiety, depression, brain fog, and fatigue. Functional medicine and/or guidance from a dietician can help support a healthy microbiome, so your body, mind, and brain work together more harmoniously.

Holistic care for mental health considers nutrition, lifestyle, and gut health as part of ‘whole-person healing’. Nourishing your gut with the right foods can influence serotonin production and support overall well-being.

We offer functional medicine and dietitian services in the Houston, TX area as part of an integrative approach to mental health. Click the link in our bio to explore how supporting your gut can support your mind and body.
