We had a great time supporting the First Bank Fincastle 5k yesterday. Our team enjoyed running the water station and cheering on all the participants — it was inspiring to see everyone out there pushing themselves and making wellness a priority.

Events like this remind us how powerful community and movement can be when it comes to living a healthier life.

Thanks to everyone who came out and made the morning such a success — we can’t wait to do it again next year!

✨“If you think physical therapy is only about rehabilitation after surgery or recovering from an accident, think again. For the vast majority, seeing a physical therapist should be about prevention, routine assessment and staying well.”
✨Do you wait to schedule your therapy when something gets really bad or for routine maintenance like you would the dentist?
✨Skip the doctor and call to ask about our direct access option!

Most people think of physical therapy as rehabilitation. But many physical therapists want the profession to be seen as preventive medicine.

🧠 What Is LSVT BIG?

LSVT BIG is a research-backed exercise approach tailored for individuals with Parkinson’s Disease. It emphasizes exaggerated (BIG) movements to recalibrate the brain’s perception of normal movement. The program involves intensive, high-effort practice to teach patients how to produce normalized movement patterns, which are then applied to everyday activities.

✨Ashley Thompson LPTA, LSVT BIG® Certified clinician will be happy to provide you with the tools and exercises needed to improve your movement and quality of life!

✨ Decrease your joint pain!

A UK study with over 40,000 people found that just 2 hours of structured exercise per week (for hip, back, or knee pain) led to: about 35% less pain, 29% fewer doctor visits, 50% fewer sick days, and a 21% decrease in reliance on family care.
Implication: Structured exercise programs could be pushed more in prevention and chronic pain management.

✨Benefits of Dry Needling

Dry needling is a treatment that helps relax tight muscles, reduce pain, and improve movement. During the session, a very thin needle is placed into “trigger points” or tight spots in the muscle to help it release and heal.

✨Travis Herald DPT and Jake Wright DPT are certified in dry needling here at Daleville Physical Therapy and are ready to get you feeling better!

Here are some of the main benefits:
• Relieves muscle tightness and pain
It helps release knots and tension that can cause soreness or limit how you move.
• Improves movement and flexibility
Muscles can relax and stretch more easily, allowing you to move with less stiffness.
• Speeds up healing
Increases blood flow to the area, which helps your body repair itself faster.
• Reduces nerve-related pain
Can calm irritated nerves and help reset the way your body senses pain.
• Supports muscle function
Helps weak or overworked muscles start working normally again.

Common areas treated include the neck, shoulders, back, hips, and legs. Many people feel looser and more comfortable after just a few sessions.
