My deepest condolences go out to my dear friend Gina, her son Jacob and his wife Paige (whom I had the honor of marrying), Momma Josie, and the rest of her family, a family who has always felt like my own, on the heartbreaking loss of little Miss Westlynn Grace.
Westlynn was simply too perfect for this world. Gina, you said it best: you didn’t just deliver a baby, you delivered an angel. And that’s exactly who Westlynn is. In her short but powerful existence, she touched lives without ever taking a single breath. She broke chains that had weighed people down for years, without ever opening her precious eyes. She destroyed generational curses without speaking a single word. She healed hearts and mended relationships without ever lifting a finger. That is the work of a Godsend and that is exactly who your daughter is.
I know, because I saw it with my own eyes: Westlynn was so deeply loved. From the gifts showered upon her, to the comments spoken in anticipation, to the family and friends who came to see her. Gina, I hope you also know that you, too, are profoundly loved.
Delivering an angel is something that words can’t truly capture. And yet, you shared with me that there was a peace that came over you in that moment. If that doesn’t say God was with you, I don’t know what does. I believe with all my heart that God Himself was in that room that morning, reassuring you that Westlynn Grace was already in the best of hands, His.
The Father who never lets us down, who picks us up when we fall, who loves us unconditionally every single day of our lives, that’s the Father who holds her now.
Gina, I love you, my friend. So many others love you, too. But more importantly, never forget, God loves you most of all.
