”Bad breath is not always a brushing problem.

You can brush twice a day, floss, use mouthwash… and still deal with bad breath if the real issue is something deeper.

This is why I always say bad breath is a clue. Not just something to cover up.

Mints and mouthwash may temporarily mask it… but they don’t fix the root cause.

If you’re constantly dealing with bad breath, your body may be trying to tell you something.

Which one surprised you most?

This is exactly why I’m so careful with mouthwash. A lot of conventional options seem “fresh” and “clean,” but when you actually look at the label, the story can be very different.

Your oral care products should support the mouth instead of disrupting it.

Have you ever checked the ingredients in your mouthwash? 👀

Your mouth often shows signs of health issues before the rest of your body does.

As a dentist, these are some of the signals I look for first.

Bleeding gums can point to inflammation in the body.
Dry mouth may be linked to dehydration or certain medications.
Persistent bad breath often signals a bacterial imbalance.
Jaw pain can be connected to stress, clenching, or airway issues.
And worn-down teeth frequently reveal nighttime grinding.

Your mouth isn’t separate from the rest of your health.

It’s a window into what’s happening in your body.

Pay attention to the signals. Your mouth might be trying to tell you something. 🦷

As a holistic dentist, there are certain products I simply don’t use anymore.

Not because they’re trendy to avoid, but because I’ve seen what they can do to the mouth over time.

When you support the natural ecosystem in your mouth, your teeth, gums, and overall health benefit.

Save this for the next time you’re standing in the toothpaste aisle. 🪥

What no one tells you about sealants on kids’ teeth…

Yes, studies show they can prevent cavities... but only for the first 5 years. After that, they start breaking down, trapping bacteria, and hiding cavities underneath.

That’s why I no longer place them in my practice, because long-term health matters more than quick fixes.

Your child’s mouth tells a story.

Snoring.
Mouth breathing.
Early crowding.
Grinding.
Restless sleep.

These aren’t random.

Oral development affects airway health.
Airway health affects sleep.
Sleep affects behavior, focus, growth, and overall wellness.

Holistic dentistry isn’t just about teeth, it’s about development.

And the earlier you look, the more you can guide growth naturally.

Save this if you’re raising a little one 🦷

Ever wonder what’s actually inside your toothpaste?

Silica (basically sand) to scrub your teeth.
Detergents so it foams.
Artificial sweeteners to make it taste “minty fresh.”
Dyes so it looks pretty.
Binders to hold it all together.

Most people use these products every single day… without ever questioning what they’re putting in their mouth.

Send this to a friend who still thinks all toothpaste is the same. 🪥

Your nervous system and your oral health are deeply connected.

Just below the mastoid process (that small bony area behind your ear) runs a pathway that relates to the vagus nerve, one of the most important regulators of your parasympathetic “rest and digest” system.

When supported properly, the vagus nerve can help:

• Promote a sense of calm
• Support better breathing patterns
• Improve sleep quality
• Reduce chronic tension (including jaw tension)

Red light therapy in this area may help stimulate circulation and support nervous system balance.

And why does this matter in dentistry?

Because clenching, grinding, mouth breathing, and TMJ issues are often rooted in nervous system dysregulation.

Holistic dentistry looks beyond the teeth.

It asks: what’s driving the tension in the first place?

Would you try this? 🦷✨

Your enamel isn’t dead. It’s dynamic.

Teeth are constantly losing and gaining minerals. The problem isn’t just bacteria - it’s whether your body has the nutrients to rebuild what’s lost.

Remineralization depends on:

• Calcium
• Phosphorus
• Vitamin D
• Fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, K2)
• Proper saliva flow

This is why holistic dentistry looks at nutrition first - not just fillings.

You can’t out-brush a mineral deficiency.

Which of these foods do you already eat regularly? 👇🦷

Sparkling water isn’t the villain. But it’s not “just water” either.

Carbonation makes it acidic and acid pulls minerals from your enamel. Over time, that can soften teeth and increase cavity risk.

Here’s the part most people miss:

👉 It’s not about having one.
👉 It’s about sipping it all day.

When your teeth are constantly exposed to acid, they don’t get a chance to remineralize.

So what’s the move?

✔️ Drink it quickly, not slowly over hours
✔️ Don’t use it as your main water source
✔️ Think of it as a treat, not a replacement

Your enamel needs recovery time.

Do you sip sparkling water all day? 👀🦷

Most people think cavities just “happen.” But as a holistic dentist, I can tell you, they don’t.

Your mouth is not separate from your body. It reflects your breathing patterns, your mineral status, your stress levels, your diet… and even your nervous system.

From mouth breathing and mineral deficiencies to ignoring bleeding gums and grinding at night - these are the patterns I see over and over again.

And the good news? Most of them are completely reversible when you address the root cause.

Which one surprised you the most? 👇
