⚠️ MYTH vs FACT: POST-OP SWELLING ⚠️
MYTH:
All swelling after surgery is normal and nothing to worry about.
FACT:
While swelling is expected after surgery, excessive or abnormal swelling may indicate fluid buildup that needs attention.
Signs swelling may not be normal include:
⚠️ Swelling that keeps increasing instead of improving
⚠️ Hard, tight areas under the skin
⚠️ Uneven swelling on one side of the body
⚠️ Skin that feels very warm, painful, or extremely firm
⚠️ Swelling that does not improve with time
After surgery, the lymphatic system is working overtime to remove excess fluid. Supporting it with proper care may help the body manage swelling more effectively.
Many surgeons recommend post-operative lymphatic drainage to help move fluid and support recovery.
✨ When in doubt, always consult your surgeon if swelling seems unusual.
