This past weekend I had the honor of attending the Black Girls in Social Work Conference in Charlotte, NC and I am still so full from the experience. ✨
The theme was Beyond Balance, and it reminded me of the importance of not only serving others but also creating space to nurture ourselves as social workers. Throughout the sessions, I was poured into by powerful speakers and surrounded by brilliant, passionate Black women in social work. We discussed everything from business growth, ethical practice, and self-care, to creativity and innovation in our field.
One takeaway that truly stuck with me: the outcome matters, but the income matters too. It’s time to maximize my impact while also maximizing my income, because both are essential for sustainability and growth.
I’m leaving this conference inspired, equipped, and ready to transform what I’ve learned into my work and my business. I even had the chance to connect with another Dallas social worker, which reminded me how powerful community and connection can be.
