It’s an honor to be recognized as one of D magazine’s best dentists. Will there be an asterisk to indicate that we didn’t work March through May? 🤷‍♂️

We’re still closely following the COVID-19 crisis in our community as well as our nation. The current recommendation by health authorities and dental associations is to stay closed to routine and elective dental procedures until at least April 21st. This date is only tentative at this time.

In the past two weeks, we’ve seen a handful of emergencies and want to remind you that we are available to help. However, anything that can wait until April 21st should be postponed.

We are experiencing the same PPE shortages and have avoided ordering anything to keep the flow to the hospitals that truly need them at this time.

We will be in touch with everyone who had cancelled or upcoming appointments as soon as it becomes clear that we can safely reopen and return to normal operations. It is unclear when exactly that will happen, and what new safeguards will be put into place.

In the meantime: please stay home, stay safe, and stay healthy.

We are only seeing patients for emergencies and urgent care needs. Many dental related problems end up at the emergency room, and now is not the time to place extra burdens on ER departments.

Please refer to this publication for the ADA guidelines on what constitutes an emergency or urgent need for dental treatment:
https://success.ada.org/~/media/CPS/Files/Open%20Files/ADA_COVID19_Dental_Emergency_DDS.pdf

SUMMARY:

Emergency care:
- Diffuse swelling that may compromise airway
- Uncontrolled bleeding
- Facial trauma that may compromise airway

Urgent care:
- Tooth pain (not brief sensitivity)
- Localized swelling with or without pain
- Delivery of final crown/bridgework only if temporary crown/bridgework is lost, broken, or causing pain.
- Wisdom teeth pain and/or swelling
- Tooth fracture resulting in pain or causing trauma to gum tissue
- Trauma that results in a tooth out of its socket, or bent from its normal position
- Dental treatment that is required prior to critical medical care
- Denture adjustments/repairs

Unfortunately, all other needs will be postponed until at least April 1st, 2020.

Please take care,
Lawrence Wong, DMD

03/17/2020

Following guidance from health authorities as well as the Texas Dental Association, our office will be closed for the remainder of March.

There will be staff at the office to answer the phone. Emergencies will still be screened, scheduled, and treated.

We feel that the need to limit personal interactions is necessary to slow the spread of this crazy pandemic, and to protect our patients and staff. The sooner we all make these sacrifices for the good of our community and nation, the sooner we will have a resolution.

03/13/2020

In order to help prevent the spread of COVID-19, we are disinfecting the common areas of the office on a regular basis on top of our regular protocols for disinfection and sterilization. This is standard for the flu-season as well.

However, if you are experiencing possible flu-like symptoms, please call our office and we will help reschedule your visit. The ultimate goal is to prevent and slow down community spread to vulnerable patients. We will continue to be of service as long as we’re healthy and able to do so!
