Conversations with a provider can sometimes feel hurried or confusing. Knowing what questions to ask or what you need to know in order for you to make the best decision for you and your family can be very important. I use B.R.A.I.N. when talking with my own doctors and providers. It helps me get the best information and understand all my options.

Using this for you and your family can help as you have difficult and tough conversations in your pregnancy and throughout your life!

Some days require rest and cuddles...

I think that sometimes we all forget to take a break. To rest. To breathe. And really think about slowing down to take care of ourselves. I love that my dog really reminds me to do that. Or really forces me to do that. She is the best napper and demands that I stay in a spot so she can nap on me. I hope that you can find a moment to take a break. To take a breath. And really focus on you.

Some really amazing ways to help your labor progress is to stimulate oxytocin in your body. Being comfortable and happy while you are laboring is something that any of your support people can help with too! Hugs, kisses, and other things that create a space that is comfortable for you can be things that you can start to talk about with your support system before labor. Think about things that you can bring into your birth space to help you relax. Start doing some of these things now so you can be ready for labor. This can be something fun to do and start thinking about.

Doulas are there for you to support you physically and emotionally (sometimes spiritually). We help with giving you evidence based information when you need it. We provide advocacy like knowing your rights and help you know about your options. Doulas also help with positioning, massage, and other birth related techniques during labor. We're there if something goes wrong or to help you pivot your plan. We're there to make sure you are cared for the way you need and want.

Doulas are people who are in your corner no matter what that looks like. We are non-judgmental support, which means we will support you no matter your provider, kind of birth you want, or choices surrounding your perinatal journey. We aren't here to judge but to be by your side.

[Photo Description]: A black background with text stating "What is a doula? Some benefits from having a doula in your corner: " at the top centered on the image. There are 6 images with descriptions that state "provides support", "better birth outcomes", "reduces pain interventions", increases partner(s) involvement", "increases knowledge of options and resources", and "positive perinatal experiences". At the bottom of the image it says "And more...".
