The words we choose shape how we imagine a healthier future, both for our personal wellness and for our communities.
I didn’t realize how much my spirit needed to hear LeTonia Jones, MSW presentation this morning. The way she delivered the material was masterful. Her tempo was calm and settled my nervous system enough to receive the information with ease. Her approach was gentle, anecdotal, and honest, all while weaving in the data. She dispelled myths with softness and reminded me how powerful language truly is. It was exactly what I needed to stay the course on this holistic health journey.
I’m currently embarking on a certification in Brain Longevity Training Therapy (BLTT) with the Alzheimer’s Research and Prevention Foundation. In this course, I’m learning about the 4 Pillars of Prevention and additionally how deeply this disease affects women, and especially Black women, in disproportionate ways. I’ll be incorporating my learnings into my Kundalini Yoga classes, but today I wanted to pause and acknowledge this scholar and the care, clarity, and integrity she brings to this important work.
Grateful for teachers who lead with both truth and tenderness.
