Pecan Tree Pediatrics is pleased to announce that we are transitioning to a new online check-in system!

This new system will streamline the entire practice and make it more efficient. The transition will take place the week of August 25th through September 5th, 2025.

We are sharing this with you now because you will notice a few issues while implementing the new system. Please be patient with our staff and providers as we will learn this new system together. You may notice it takes a little bit longer to schedule an appointment, or a visit may take longer than is typical as we adjust to new screens and workflows. There may also be a period of overlap that will cause you to receive two different check-in links—one from our current system and another from the new system.

With the new portal, you will still be able to send us messages, view immunization records, view current medications, and pay your bill online. The "improved" piece is that more than one person may have login access to the patient portal, and all siblings in a family will be linked under a single portal login!
In the meantime, please call the office with any questions or concerns.

We will keep you updated through our page and website. We are so excited about this positive change and look forward to sharing it with you!

We are thrilled to announce that Dr. Vincent Ianelli will be joining Pecan Tree Pediatrics on July 9th! He will be seeing patients at the Lakewood office in Dallas on Wednesdays and Fridays!

Dr. Vincent Iannelli graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. He earned his Doctor of Medicine degree at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, Texas, and completed his residency at Children’s Medical Center in Dallas.

Dr. Iannelli has practiced pediatric medicine in the Rockwall and Rowlett communities for over 28 years. He is the author of “The Everything Father’s First Year Book.” Additionally, he is the founder of the keepkidshealthy.com and vaxopedia.com websites. He is a strong advocate for children, their health, and vaccination. He has four adult children.

Dr. Iannelli will be spending 2 days per week in Dallas at our Lakewood office, where he is currently accepting patients.

Meet Dr. Sylvia Martinez!

She works full-time, Monday through Friday, in our Dallas/Lakewood office.

She joined Pecan Tree Pediatrics at the end of 2024 and has thoroughly enjoyed caring for newborns, children, and adolescents in our community. She is welcoming new patients of all ages, including newborns.

Dr. Sylvia Martinez Pro was born and raised in the city of Monterrey, located in northern Mexico. She completed her pediatric residency training at UT Southwestern / Children's Health in Dallas. She takes pride in constantly striving for excellence in providing, to every single one of her patients, the same level of evidence-based, outstanding clinical care she would want for her own children.

Dr. Martinez Pro lives in Dallas with her husband, two sons, and baby daughter. She is fluent in English and Spanish and enjoys playing piano, reading, being outdoors, and spending quality time with her family.

There is currently an outbreak of Measles in Texas and, as of February 26, 2025, there is a known case of an infected person in Rockwall County. It is our recommendation that patients between the ages of 6 months - 23 months schedule an appointment to receive a dose of the MMR vaccine, and patients 24 months and up schedule an appointment to receive a dose of the MMRV vaccine. There will need to be at least 4 weeks between this dose of MMR and any other live vaccine. Please call our office to schedule.

Protection can take up to 2 weeks after having the MMR vaccine. After 2 doses, around 99% of people will be protected against measles and rubella.

Measles: "A viral infection that's serious for small children but is easily preventable by a vaccine.

The disease spreads through the air by respiratory droplets produced from coughing or sneezing.

Measles symptoms don't appear until 10 to 14 days after exposure. They include cough, runny nose, inflamed eyes, sore throat, fever, and a red, blotchy skin rash.

Measles can also lead to more severe issues, including pneumonia, encephalitis, brain damage, and pregnancy complications. Complications of measles can occur in anyone, including in healthy children and adults.

There's no treatment to get rid of an established measles infection, but over-the-counter fever reducers or vitamin A may help with symptoms."
