In honor of HIV Long-Term Survivors Awareness Day on June 5, Amida Care, NMAC and the Latino Commission on AIDS are hosting a virtual community forum.

The event celebrates the legacy of long-term survivors in influencing HIV policy, health and social services, and community care, to recharge activists in continuing the fight for the health of communities impacted by HIV.

HIV long-term survivors, community leaders, and healthcare experts will discuss the impacts of the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program and Medicaid/ Medicare, while addressing the current challenges facing our community and envisioning an inclusive, supportive future for all people aging with .

August 20 is Southern HIV/AIDS Awareness Day (SHAAD). Founded by the Southern AIDS Coalition in 2019, SHAAD is dedicated to raising awareness about the disproportionate impact of HIV on communities in the Southern region of the U.S.

The South, and particularly the "Deep South" (Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas) experiences a higher burden of HIV and a lower PrEP uptake rate than any other region in the country.
