My Broadway star as Orphan Kate 🤩✨
It’s been such a joy watching my theater girlie flourish in the arts and shine so confidently on stage. From her love of musicals at home to bringing characters to life under the lights, she truly belongs there.

I’m so excited to watch her continue exploring her gifts and all the beautiful possibilities the performing arts can offer. 🎭

2016 was rose gold and brand new…

A new marriage…
A new baby…
A new family…
A new home…

Big dreams and seeds just starting to sprout. 🌱

Nobody told me the road would be easy… and it isn’t.

Marriage is hard.
Parenting is hard.
Purpose is hard.

But we can do hard things.
Especially with Jesus — and that’s enough.

What we planted back then has grown into roots deeper than I ever imagined. And now it’s time to realign — putting God first, then my spouse, my children, and the work we’re called to do.

Cheers to 10 years of being a wife and a mother.
Closing one decade. Beginning another.

New seeds.
New stories.
Living faithfully and intentionally.

2025 wasn’t about doing more, it was about being mindful.

Asking myself is this bringing me closer to God’s calling and purpose for my life, my family and marriage?

Is this providing clarity?
Causing confusion?
Or is it time for completion and closure?

Seeds planted years ago have grown—and now some needed to be lovingly pruned.

Admittedly, I have a capacity problem and I’m looking forward to how God will provide me and my family with more by doing, having and stressing less.

Happy New Year!

Meet Dr. Essence Johnson, OD, FAAO — a community, correctional health, and now clinical trial optometrist who has built a niche practice she loves.

Her introduction to 20/20 Onsite began with one referral, “I was introduced to 20/20 Onsite by Dr. Darryl Glover, who connected me with Dr. Alina Reznic... One assignment turned into another, and now I consistently work on trials every month in the states where I’m licensed to practice.”

What keeps her coming back? The diversity of the work and the impact it makes.

“I love the type and diversity of the work we do, and how we make optometry more accessible—especially through our role in clinical trials. I’ve traveled to remote areas of Texas and to cities just outside major metroplexes to bring care directly to patients, often right outside their homes. It’s meaningful, impactful work.”

For Dr. Johnson, 20/20 Onsite offers more than just variety. It provides balance. “Working with 20/20 Onsite offers the flexibility and variety that allow me to stay connected to clinical care while also working in education and academia. It supports the niche practice I’ve grown to love.”

When asked what mindset is needed for this work, she emphasizes: “Patience and compassion are key. We’re not providing routine care, and every clinical trial has its own nuances. Attention to detail and the ability to adapt to the unique demands of each study are essential to ensuring quality care and data integrity.”

Dr. Johnson reminds us that being part of 20/20 Onsite’s OD Network means more than just clinical work—it’s about meaningful relationships, flexible practice, and making a real difference in patients’ lives.

Are you an OD looking for:
• Variety and flexibility in your schedule
• Opportunities to contribute to advancing medicine
• A chance to bring care directly to patients where they need it most
• A network of peers redefining what optometry can be

Join our OD Network.
