Healing is not a solitary pursuit at LifeCare Hospitals of North Texas. We share the journey to recovery with our patients and their families…and bring joy as much as possible along the way. Our LifeCare Fort Worth staff helped a family pull off a surprise for one of our patients. She said she felt “so shocked and so loved” that they went out of their way to celebrate her day!

Our staff at LifeCare hospital of Fort Worth hosted a wedding last week. Bobby, one of our heart patients, had planned to marry his longtime love, Angie, before he arrived at our hospital. Instead of waiting for his discharge, they asked us to celebrate with them. “We’ve been together for over five years,” said Angie, “we didn’t want to wait any longer.” Our LifeCare staff was honored to share such a happy occasion with them, Following the festivities, Angie said, “You all have gone above and beyond for us…flowers, cake, and support. We are so thankful…the rest is in God’s hands.” Witnessing their love for and commitment to one another was inspiring. Cheers to you, Angie and Bobby, longtime partners and finally newlyweds!

Rosalba E., 87, was taken to a traditional hospital by her family out of concern for her sudden onset of severe confusion and seemingly diminishing mental state. With a medical history of hypothyroidism, osteoporosis, and diverticulitis, Mrs. Estrada was admitted for testing and found to have a high degree of urinary retention following a pelvic prolapse leading to a sling procedure. During her course of post procedure treatment, she developed and infection that lead to septic shock and a UTI. Rosalba was transferred to LifeCare to continue the necessary acute care. While with us, she received daily visits from our physicians, IV antibiotics to clear the infection, and personalized physical and occupational therapy to increase her overall recovery potential. Mrs. E worked hard with her clinical care teams and her progression has allowed her family to be comfortable in the decision to bring her home where they will continue home health care, as needed. We are thankful to have had the opportunity to collaborate treatment goals and care planning with Mrs. E and her family during her recovery and ultimately her journey back home.

Jaranda, one of our Patient Experience Managers, hosts regular domino games for patients who are able to venture out of their rooms and join her for some fun.
Each of our North Texas hospital locations has a dedicated Patient Experience Manager who checks-in regularly with all of our patients and their families throughout their time with us to assure their needs are being addressed and they are as comfortable - and entertained - as possible. Prioritizing patient experience is not only our goal, it is our pleasure.
