⁉️WHAT IS A CAPSULE?!? A capsule is simply scar tissue and when it’s pinkish/white and thin, it’s completely NORMAL!! When it becomes thickened and/or calcified, it is abnormal and often causes a capsular contracture (i.e hardening of the implants). In the following slides, notice the difference between abnormal and normal capsular tissue.

Abnormal capsular tissue needs to be removed but normal does not (when you remove normal tissue, more scar tissue will re-form so you’ll just make another capsule). If you are suffering from hardened implants and need them removed and/or exchanged (along with a capsulectomy), there are SEVERAL options for a breast revision procedure to reduce your risk of forming another thickened capsule.
