This one goes out to our current BB Mat 2 students! HIP CIRCLES! We’ve been discussing how the arms press down to life the chest up. It’s so easy to let the chest sink down once those legs extend. The arms have to act as a counter weight to the legs. So much lifting effort that the wrists should not be bothered. Start with bent knees, progress to straight legs. Torso doesn’t move. Excellent ex*****on of the exercise

Side Bending.
Hip rotation.
ALL are needed for a great TAIL WAG experience in quadruped. Listen carefully for cues in this Pilates movement principle moment. Add it into your class next week as a great reminder then progress this neck movement to Chest Expansion on the Reformer!

The online students view of .onthemat performing Pilates Teaser 1 with Melanie demonstrating how to assist as a teacher. Teacher Trainers should be in a place to learn how to TEACH the exercises, not how to DO them. This group is 1/3 of the way through Mat 2 training after Wednesdays session full of rollovers and spine flexion exercises!

When Karen & Melanie play with ideas. One of will see a video somewhere or notice something that challenges the other to work better and we’ll work out ideas. Collaboration 🙌 Karen is about to go into a big weight lifting session, so this was part of a warm up to bring these ideas to her form in squats.
