Edit: at the very end, Karen means to say “upper thorax” as a wheel, not pelvis. ☺️ but the information about how the shoulders tie into this movement was too good not to share.

Same length through the crown of the head as in the previous post, but this time we add a Pilates push through bar and a hint of trunk rotation. Simple ideas to take with you into the bigger picture of Pilates repertoire.

Action required! Adding a tactile reference for the head encourages axial elongation during any activity, but starting with marching legs. Maximum awareness for leg differentiation. How else can we add this awareness? And how nice to cue the eyes without lifting the head.

Got Squat? When the heels are lifted and the entire foot is touching something, the knees can really bend. Make sure the knees bend just a tad before the hips flex…. This will give a nice load to the quadriceps.
We can’t fear the quadriceps. You also do not have to go low. Do what you can to feel your quads.
The eccentric part is important. The quads lengthening over the kneecap is key for eccentrics.
ALSO. Rather than just bending the knees, we have to really, REALLY, push the floor.
