Vulnerability is like a muscle. The more you use it, the easier it becomes. Stretch this muscle and grow your vulnerability with safe people you trust. Watch new intimacy in relationships grow and emotional processing develop stronger.

“An expectation is one person placing self-made obligations on the other person, without the other person’s input, understanding, consent, or even knowing the obligations are there. The intent (not usually consciously) is to force my “right” way upon another person. The relationship is with the expectation. It’s dictatorial.” -

“Your favorite album doesn't just sound good — it may also be good for your mental health. That's according to a new report from the Global Council on Brain Health (GCBH), an AARP-founded working group of scientists, health care professionals and other experts. Their latest report, “Music on Our Minds,” highlights research showing music's positive effect on emotional well-being, including improving mood, decreasing anxiety, and managing stress.”

So pump up the jams, roll the windows down, and sing your heart out!

I can not stress this enough. We are working against decades of negative social “standards” for health. Those “standards” of health have been proven wrong time and time again and are the reason for the need to heal. Body and eating disorders are what I spend most of the time in my office fighting, and a big part is beginning the steps of healing the mental battle. Take a moment and think through what all your body has done for you. Now thank it. Appreciate it. Treat it kindly and lovingly. This strong, gorgeous body has been there on good days and bad. Just like your thankfulness for a dear friend, thank your body for showing up every day and supporting you through it all.

The practice may look different than when we were children, but the need for soothing remains the same. This emotional regulation strategy helps regain equilibrium after an upsetting event. It can be difficult as an adult to regulate strong emotions like anger, fear, and sadness. Sometimes we need a moment to comfort ourselves and using this tool can tend to your inner child and your adult self. Inadequate self-soothing can disrupt our day, our relationships, or skew the perspective of the current situation. Save this image, learn a few techniques, or share it with others in hopes of using this resource.

You are still growing, still learning, and still on your adventure. Often we look to the “path” next to us for comparison, but comparing your growth, journey, or season to others will only disappoint and destroy. Take time to appreciate the views of beauty on your mountains and valleys.
