Post-professional PT/PTA Education OPTIM was started with one singular goal in mind. We want to improve the practice of physical therapy. Louis MO.

We promote excellence in psychomotor skills, exercise prescription, differential diagnosis, and pain science. Our participants come range from new grads to therapist with 10 years experience from ortho, neuro, and sports backgrounds. OPTIM offers both a Certification in Orthopedic Manual Therapy (COMT) & APTA accredited Fellowship in Orthopedic Manual Therapy (FAAOMPT). Currently we are hosting courses in Houston TX, Dallas TX, Phoenix AZ, and St. Our programs fully embrace the APTA’s vision and strive to provide participants with a forward thinking approach to physical therapist practice. We emphasize current best evidence into clinical practice including paradigms like utilizing a bio-psycho-social approach, leveraging patient expectations, and purposeful interventions to provide excellent clinical outcomes. The current model of clinical education is insufficient. Unwarranted practice variation in our field is widespread and has enormous consequences. Our goal is to train the next generation of physical therapists to be expert clinicians in manual physical therapy. We strive to change the practice of physical therapy, develop leaders, and facilitate ongoing growth in physical therapist practice.

Our faculty members are experienced in the field of OMPT, and our unique curriculum provides participants a well-rounded, “Monday morning applicable” experience.

‼️New Course added today‼️ Intro to Pelvic Floor Therapy

This hands on two-day course will teach participants the anatomy of the pelvic floor, including muscles, nerves, and connective tissues, and explain their roles in continence and support. Explain the physiology of micturition, including neural control and bladder function in normal and pathological states. Perform a basic pelvic floor evaluation, including external and internal assessment techniques, patient education, and documentation. Assess pelvic floor muscle strength and endurance using standardized tools and clinical reasoning to guide treatment planning. Differentiate between stress urinary incontinence, urge urinary incontinence, and overactive bladder, including etiology, presentation, and contributing factors. Design and implement evidence-informed treatment strategies for stress urinary incontinence, urge urinary incontinence, and overactive bladder incorporating behavioral, manual, and exercise-based interventions. Sometimes our patients want specifics, sometimes they don't. Being able to give a specific diagnosis without using overly nocebo language can be difficult. This article does a good job of finding the balance. And just remember sometimes the diagnosis is non-specific, but the treatment never is.
