✨ Donors & GLP-1 Medications – What You Need to Know ✨
At Giving Hope Egg Donation, we understand that many potential egg donors are currently using GLP-1 medications for weight management. The good news is that using a GLP-1 does not automatically disqualify you from becoming an egg donor.
✔️ You may use GLP-1 medications before being selected by intended parents.
✔️ However, once you are selected and preparing to begin your cycle, you will need to stop the medication before starting the egg donation process.
It’s also important to remember that egg donation is not an overnight process. A full cycle includes several steps such as matching, medical and psychological screening, legal contracts, and the stimulation/retrieval process. Because of these steps, the timeline can vary and a complete cycle may take anywhere from a few months up to about 8 months.
If you’re currently using a GLP-1 and are interested in becoming a donor, you can still apply and begin the early steps of the process while you wait to be matched with intended parents. 💛
Have questions about eligibility or the donation timeline? Our team is always happy to help guide you through the process.
