In Skilled Nursing News latest white paper sponsored by Pointclickcare, titled 'How PDPM is bringing Nurses Back to Skilled Nursing'. The opening statement reflects how PDPM will impact nurses moving forward.
"With the onset of the Patient-Driven Payment Model (PDPM) just months away for skilled nursing providers, SNFs are gearing up for the changes. For many, these changes need buy-in across the entire organization from frontline staff to billing and coding professionals. And while the process of change will require much time and resources from a management standpoint, operators agree that there’s one key worker demographic that stands to gain under PDPM: nurses. This white paper will discuss the impact of PDPM on nursing staff, as well as how leadership can approach change management with this important population in mind.

"The new payment model will bring nurses back to the basics of nursing, hence becoming Clinical Care Clinicians or CCC's and reimbursement specialists". Joe D. Hernandez, CEO, MDS LTC Training and Consulting

“This is the first time in as long as I can remember that providers are going to be reimbursed for those clinically complex individuals whose comorbid conditions can be quite costly to the provider. As a nurse, I think it’s a positive impact to our quality of care, outcomes for the residents and reimbursement.” Kellie Youngman, Director of Reimbursement, Elderwood/https://skillednursingnews.com/the-journey-to-pdpm/

Announcing
New MDS/RAI Certification Training Level II (24 hours)
(MDSRAI-CT™)

😃We proudly launch the Minimum Data Set/Resident Assessment Instrument/Certification (MDSRAI-CT™) class beginning May, 2019. Many of our alumni have requested additional training and certification in the complex and exacting process of reimbursement in Long Term Care (LTC) and Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) and as an organization we keenly appreciate the challenges in the industry relating to Medicare and Medicaid funding and recognize the demand for highly skilled and certified clinicians.

MDSMDSRAI-CT™ is Level II in the achievement of certification which merges MDS 3.0 Certification Training Level I, MDS 3.0 Form, the RAI process and RAI manual and with high importance the integration of other functional components and identification of agencies mandated by Centers for Medicare/Medicaid (CMS) in RAI Compliance for reimbursement.

MDS 3.0 Certification Training Level I addresses the fundamentals in collecting, coordinating and coding the MDS form for submission to CMS for reimbursement and a focused nursing skill set for assessment, intervention, care planning and resolution. MDS/RAI Certification Training Level II is a comprehensive course and examines the intricacies of the RAI process and is open to all alumni and an MDS Coordinator with a minimum 6 months experience in a LTC or SNF setting. We invite and encourage other disciplines involved in LTC/SNF to take MDS/RAI Certification Training Level II. For all who work in this industry we live the challenges daily in caring for others. This class is a great opportunity to expand your knowledge base for your own professional benefit but of great importance to teach your staff and peers.

Eligibility requirements, License/Registered Nurses for MDS/RAI Certification Training Level II (MDSRAI-CT™)

At least 1 of the 3 listed below:
-Minimum 6 months of MDS assessment experience
-MDS 3.0 Certification Training/MDS 3.0 Certification Training Level I
-MDS/RAI Certification Training

NOTE: These eligibility requirements do not apply to nurse managers or other disciplines not directly involved in the RAI/MDS process as MDS Coordinators.
