Methodist Rehabilitation Hospital Inpatient rehabilitation hospitals provide intense speech, physical and occupational therapy to prep

We offer specialized treatment programs for patients recovering from stroke, brain injury, neurological conditions, trauma, spinal cord injury, amputation and orthopedic injury as well as other injury and illness. Our rehabilitation programs are centered around the individual needs of each patient to improve health, function and quality of life. Acute Inpatient Rehabilitation Facilities differ from other post-acute options most notably in the amount of therapy offered and medical oversight provided. We offer specialized therapy, rehab-trained nursing care, rehabilitation physician involvement and disease state management tailored to our patient population. Our patients receive at least 3 hours of therapy at least 5 days each week.

When Benny began his journey at Methodist Rehabilitation Hospital, he required moderate to maximum assistance for transfers and assistance with all self-care activities. He demonstrated cognitive challenges, including deficits in memory, attention, processing, and sequencing. Benny was also unable to walk or bear weight through his right leg without it giving way.

Through consistent participation in skilled therapy interventions—including task-specific training, neuromuscular re-education, functional strengthening, and adaptive strategy instruction—he improved his ability to sequence tasks, tolerate increased activity demands, and incorporate his affected extremities into daily routines.

By discharge, Benny achieved independence in all self-care skills and is now able to walk independently. His cognitive recovery exceeded goals, contributing to his overall independence and confidence, and allowing him to safely return home.

His progress reflects his strong motivation and work ethic, the support of his family, and his active engagement in his recovery. We are incredibly proud of his success and look forward to seeing how he continues to recover!

Wishing you and yours a very merry and healthy holiday season!

Stroke recovery doesn’t stop for the holidays.

After a stroke, inpatient rehabilitation helps people relearn important skills like walking, speaking and performing daily activities. Patients receive therapy several hours a day with a team that includes doctors, nurses and therapists who specialize in stroke recovery.

With the right care and support, stroke survivors can rebuild strength, independence, and confidence one step at a time.

We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Erica Beaman to our team! A proud Houston native, she went on to attend medical school at Texas Tech University in Lubbock before completing her Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) residency at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas. Her strong clinical training and commitment to patient-centered care make her a wonderful addition to our department.

She was drawn to PM&R because of its collaborative, holistic approach to medicine. She truly values the opportunity to partner with therapists, case managers, and other highly trained professionals to create comprehensive care plans that help patients regain independence and improve their quality of life. Her passion for restoring function and empowering patients is evident in everything she does.

Outside of work, she loves to travel and unwind with episodes of Real Housewives. She also embraces the busy—and joyful—life of being a mom, spending most of her free time caring for her baby, who will be turning one this coming January.

We are so happy to have her here and excited for the energy, compassion, and expertise she brings.
