When Benny began his journey at Methodist Rehabilitation Hospital, he required moderate to maximum assistance for transfers and assistance with all self-care activities. He demonstrated cognitive challenges, including deficits in memory, attention, processing, and sequencing. Benny was also unable to walk or bear weight through his right leg without it giving way.
Through consistent participation in skilled therapy interventions—including task-specific training, neuromuscular re-education, functional strengthening, and adaptive strategy instruction—he improved his ability to sequence tasks, tolerate increased activity demands, and incorporate his affected extremities into daily routines.
By discharge, Benny achieved independence in all self-care skills and is now able to walk independently. His cognitive recovery exceeded goals, contributing to his overall independence and confidence, and allowing him to safely return home.
His progress reflects his strong motivation and work ethic, the support of his family, and his active engagement in his recovery. We are incredibly proud of his success and look forward to seeing how he continues to recover!
