Implantcast NA is a distribution and service partner of world-renowned orthopedic solutions company Implantcast GmbH, headquartered near Hamburg, Germany.

Implantcast North America is a full service provider of orthopedic medical devices in the United States. We partner with implantcast GmbH (Buxtehude, Germany) and orthopedic surgeons to deliver the highest quality revision and tumor prostheses in the world to patients. Implantcast is a highly specialized, innovative company engaged in the development, production, sterile packaging and distribution of primary, revision and tumor endoprostheses. It is the intent of implantcast North America to distribute the catalog of devices* specific to primary and revision total joint replacement (hip and knee), and endoprosthetic devices specific to musculoskeletal tumor, infection and salvage procedures. The need for these unique tumor and infection revision technologies continues to increase in the US as healthcare faces greater pressures to reduce infections, not only for the betterment of patients, but also to curb the massive costs associated with infected prosthesis patients or amputations. It is our mission that we must guarantee safety to each patient and, to their surgeon, optimum quality of the endoprosthetic system and related instruments. Paramount to durability and reliability of a endoprosthetic system is the quality and safety of each individual component manufactured. Implantcast North America, based in Dallas, TX, took root in 2013.

Dr. Hohman from the Texas Joint Institute performed total hip revision arthroplasty on a patient with complications including past infection and significant acetabular and femoral bone deficiencies. The patient was reconstructed utilizing the MUTARS® RS cup system featuring porous EPORE® ingrowth structure for secondary long-term osseointegration, as well as a wedge-shaped ischial fl**ge and an arch-shaped illiac fl**ge with screw holes. This was paired with the silver-coated MUTARS® Proximal Femur system, which has antimicrobial properties to address the patient’s infection risk, along with our dual mobility 2M liner.

This past weekend we hosted orthopedic surgeons at the M.A.R.C. Institute in Miami, FL for our Advanced Course in Pelvic Resection and Reconstruction! This event featured cadaveric workshops, didactics, and Q&A case sessions featuring world-renowned faculty experts in complex tumor/salvage reconstructions.

As discussed in our previous posts: complex revision and tumor cases often result in extensive bone loss, and our EPORE® implant structures and augments provide an option to reconstruct or fill these potential bone defects. We will be highlighting some of our EPORE® 3D printed products in the hip as a part of our EPORE® mini-series.

EPORE® in the hip: Indications may include arthritis in the hip, pelvic fractures, and/or acetabular bone defects requiring additional fixation or better osseointegration of the hip cup.

EcoFit® EPORE®, MUTARS® RS, and MUTARS® PRS cup: Hip cups designed with the porous EPORE® ingrowth structure on the bone-facing convex side of the cup for secondary long-term osseointegration.

EPORE® buttress augments: These augments are fixed to the corresponding hip cup with bone cement. They also have optional screw hole plugs that can be removed for additional screw fixation.

EPORE® Shim augments: These augments can be utilized to fill smaller defects or gaps, and have open bore holes for additional screw fixation.
