This Thanksgiving season is a time for reflection, gratitude, and giving- and the Wishing Tree at Dallas Retirement Village is a beautiful representation of all three.
The inspiration came from Tawnya, our Marketing Director, and her husband Andy's journey through his leukemia treatment. While staying at the Rood Family Pavilion (aka the Ronald McDonald House), they noticed a Wishing Tree filled with handwritten messages of hope, healing, and encouragement- a powerful reminder, in a time of uncertainty, that no one is alone.
Their experience sparked the idea to bring a similar space of support and kindness to Dallas Retirement Village.
With help from Facility Operations Director Dale, artist Kerry Ellwood, and the generous support of the Dallas Retirement Village Foundation, the vision came to life.
Today, the Wishing Tree stands on the first floor of the Clubhouse, ready for residents, staff, and guests to leave notes of gratitude, hope, prayer, and heartfelt encouragement for one another.
This Thanksgiving- and throughout the year- the Wishing Tree serves as a reminder of the strength of community and the kindness that continues to grow within it.
