A conversation I recently had with a client was about pleasure, and how, when we’re stressed, we naturally look for something to take the edge off.

It’s a healthy instinct. But because we’re stressed, we often end up reaching for things that only temporarily soothe us and then create an immediate letdown. Things like a coke, sugar, chocolate.

Those things absolutely provide a quick hit of satisfaction so cortisol can drop. The tradeoff is that they often leave us crashing afterward or, when used frequently, can contribute to inflammation and other issues.

A more supportive long-term approach is to build in pleasure through our other senses, beyond taste! For example:

🌸 diffusing soothing essential oils
🌻 stepping outside to take a deep breath of fresh air
🍃 feeling the wind or sun on your skin
🫖 sipping on a cozy cup of tea in your favorite mug
🎶 putting on a playlist you love when you feel stress rising

I’d love to hear your favorite ways to weave small moments of pleasure into your days or weeks! Share below 💛

And if you need inspiration, Ayurveda uses five-sense therapy in all of its treatment plans. Working with your practitioner is a wonderful way to create a personalized routine just for you.

There’s a reason so many people find their way to Ayurveda after being diagnosed with a “mystery” condition or struggling with symptoms that never seem to lead to a clear diagnosis.

Ayurveda offers a way to look beyond the physical body into the more subtle layers of being where imbalances often begin to take root.

One of the frameworks that helps us understand this is the concept of the koshas - the five layers that make up our body, mind, and spirit.

Lately, I’ve noticed that so much of the work happening in my consultations lives here, in these subtle layers.

💛 Supporting relationship work.
💛 Helping clients find their true dharma, or life’s purpose.
💛 Working through anxieties and stress in real-time.

I love helping people uncover the layers beneath their symptoms and reconnect with who they truly are.

If you’ve been searching for answers that feel more like you, I’d love to support you through an Ayurvedic consultation.🌿

I sometimes hear from new people who want to try Ayurveda but are nervous it will take too much time or be one more thing to add to their already full lives.

And this is because we often compare holistic care to traditional doctor’s visits, where you’re seen for 15 minutes, share your symptoms, and typically leave with a prescription.

But the real value of Ayurvedic care is that it gives you something that most modern systems don’t: time, deep support, and presence.

When we work together, your care continues even between sessions. I’ll check in, adjust your plan as your body changes, and help you bring Ayurveda into your everyday life.💛

Curious to experience this deep level of support and care?🌿

Book your Ayurvedic Consultation with our team inside the SimpleVeda app or online! We now also offer Saturday appointments!

I always say, the trainer needs a trainer, the yoga teacher needs a class, and the therapist needs a therapist. 💛

We’re better givers of therapies when we receive ourselves.

Last week, three of us had the incredible opportunity to receive from one another.

Thanks to Jessica and Charlie, I was able to receive both a Bliss + Marma Therapy 🌈

also received a Bliss + Marma Therapy, and .aiyana received a full Bliss Therapy session.

Fall or Vata season is the perfect time to slow down and receive. 🍂

Both Marma + Bliss therapies help to:
✨ Calm the nervous system
✨ Nourish the dhatus (deeper tissues)
✨ Ground + steady the mind

So grateful for the SimpleVeda team and the healing energy we share 🤍

The other day, during one of our AyuConnect meetings (when our practitioners get together to share ideas and reflect on how to create even better experiences for our clients), I was talking with Charlie, our Health Counselor, about how often clients can get a little wide-eyed the first time they hear Sanskrit words like agni or ojas.

I shared that one of the things I do most often in my sessions is translate. I explain what these concepts mean in Ayurveda *and* in modern terms, so clients feel empowered and not overwhelmed.

Some clients come in with some baseline knowledge from AI or Google or Instagram, but when you’re only using free sources, it’s easy to feel more confused than clear. There’s a lot of misinformation out there!

Working with a practitioner means you not only get the right information, but you also receive context and a way to actually use what you learn and apply it to your own life.

Our role, as practitioners, is to bridge the wisdom of Ayurveda with today’s world in a way that feels simple, clear, and doable. You don’t have to “know it all” to benefit because that’s what we’re here for! 💛

Most people (even many practitioners!) skip this step… but every year when I guide our Spring and Fall Cleanse, sprouting ends up being one of the most surprising lessons. 🌱

I always tell my clients it’s not always about WHAT you’re eating but HOW you’re eating. And what I find the most fascinating about ayurveda is that it’s always about making foods more easily digestible. Sometimes we do that through our relationship to food. Other times we do that through the cooking process, sprouting or using spices - all are recommended to support better digestibility.

Soaking not only improves digestion by preventing vata type gas and bloating, but it also reduces bound compounds like phytic acid so your body can access the minerals (zinc, iron, calcium) better.

Want to try it for yourself?

✨ How to sprout:
Day 1 → soak overnight
Day 2–3 → rinse + strain daily
Day 4 → enjoy!

Soak in a wide-mouth mason jar covered with a cheese cloth secured with a rubber band or a sprouting lid. After soaking, strain and rinse and let the sprouts sit at room temperature for a few days, rinsing at least twice a day until you can see sprouts growing! Cook right away or store in the fridge until ready to cook. Foods will sprout faster in the warmer months and slower in the cooler seasons.

Sprouting is one of Ayurveda’s simplest and most powerful practices for digestion + vitality.💛

P.S. It’s not too late to do your own self-guided Fall Cleanse. We keep cleanse kits - with mung beans, basmati rice, ghee, spices, teas, oils, and a 45+ page workbook - in the apothecary for when you’re ready.
